Liverpool look to be improving in recent games but that might not be good news for one star, according to Wayne Rooney.
The summer window saw plenty of additions to Arne Slot’s attack.
We have seen the developing relationship between Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike, which has made fans super excited about the future of the Liverpool front line.
It does, however, throw the fate of another superstar signing into question.

Wayne Rooney’s concern with Alexander Isak at Liverpool
It’s a real shame that Alexander Isak will miss most of his debut season at Anfield.
The excitement around the club when that mammoth transfer was agreed was as high as with any done deal of the past decade.
But a nasty injury has kept the Swede out of action, and the progress made in his absence is cause for concern, at least in the opinion of Rooney.
Speaking about Liverpool on The Wayne Rooney Show, he remarked: “Yeah, they look good [Wirtz and Ekitike], don’t they?
“And I’d be more worried if I was Isak sat there watching because obviously they paid a lot of money for him. And these two seem to be having a real good understanding of each other’s game and they look like a real threat.”
It’s not Isak’s fault that he has faded into the background at Liverpool. It’s simply the way football goes sometimes.
Isak is making progress in his recovery, and should be back in time for the business end of the season. However, he will need to improve on his pre-injury form to get back into regular contention.
Rank Alexander Isak against these past and present Liverpool strikers!
Wayne Rooney is a fan of Hugo Ekitike
You could hardly find two more different profiles of striker than Rooney and Ekitike, but that doesn’t mean the Man United legend doesn’t appreciate the talent.
Ekitike is a superstar according to Kylian Mbappe, and that sentiment is shared in all corners of the Liverpool fanbase.
And by Rooney, who was particularly impressed with his Newcastle performance.
He said: “I thought Ekitike’s second goal in particular was brilliant.
“And he’s been, probably for me and Xhaka at Sunderland, probably one of the two best signings in the league, I think. I really enjoy watching Ekitike play.”
How many goals will Hugo Ekitike end up with this season?
He's surely heading past 20
Not many would have predicted this kind of impact from the Frenchman in his first season in the Premier League, but he has placed himself above all but Erling Haaland when it comes to the best number nines in England.
He and Isak are both incredibly talented players, and every effort should be made to get them at their best together. That would be a scary proposition indeed.
