A number of players impressed for Liverpool as they secured a 6-0 win over Qarabag in the Champions League.

The result meant the Reds finished in the top eight of the table, just behind Arsenal and Bayern Munich.

Liverpool now face one of four teams in the last-16 of the competition, avoiding the play-offs.

The Champions League prize money is set to increase even more in the latter stages of the tournament.

And if Liverpool play as they did on Wednesday evening, they could go far.

Florian Wirtz named Man of the Match vs Qarabag

A number of players shone during the clash, and fans have had a hard time picking who their Man of the Match was.

Using Rousing The Kop’s TalkingPoints platform, many Liverpool supporters have been voting for their MOTM.

At present, the winner of the poll is none other than Florian Wirtz, with Hugo Ekitike occupying second place.

However, despite Ekitike not leading the poll, he has still received much praise, along with some other players.

One fan wrote: “Ekitike for me, just such a livewire and took his goal brilliantly.”

“We really miss him [Ekitike] when he doesn’t play, don’t see why Slot would ever start Gakpo over him up top, brings so much to the team outside of his goals,” echoed another.

A third suggested Andy Robertson had a good game, simply commenting: “Andy Robertson,” while another replied: “I’ll be so sad if he does end up going Spurs.”

“Ekitike was great, Mac Allister impressed as well,” added another Liverpool fan.

A fifth said Wataru Endo, who was forced to provide cover at right-back, played well.

Florian Wirtz becoming one of Liverpool’s most valuable players

Wirtz provided another goal on Wednesday, taking his tally to five goals and seven assists in all competitions.

The German had a very slow start to life in England, but as Xabi Alonso predicted for the Liverpool ace, he’s well and truly begun to shine.

Wirtz and Ekitike’s partnership was on full display again in midweek, with the duo becoming a joy to watch.

There was much criticism of Liverpool’s £116m man in 2025, but he’s now cemented himself as one of the first names on the team sheet.
