Liverpool continued their fine European form with a 6-0 win over Qarabag in the Champions League.

The Reds moved back into the top eight of the league table last week after seeing off Marseille in France.

They still needed a win on January 28 to guarantee an automatic spot in the last-16 and avoid the league phase play-offs.

Arne Slot’s side managed this in style, with Liverpool scoring six against Qarabag at Anfield.

Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike impressed fans on the night, while Xabi Alonso has been proven right about one player.

The only negative coming out of the fixture was the injury to Jeremie Frimpong.

Liverpool’s potential last-16 Champions League opponents

Liverpool already have serious depth issues in the back-four, and losing the Dutchman for a prolonged period would be a blow.

But at least the Merseyside outfit don’t have to worry about playing two extra games in the play-offs next month.

Instead, Liverpool will face off with one of four teams in the last-16.

After the full-time whistles blew around Europe, it’s now been confirmed that Slot and co. will take on one of Club Brugge, Galatasaray, Juventus or Atletico Madrid.
