Arne Slot has lost the Liverpool fans amid a string of poor performances
Boos rang around Anfield this past weekend following what was an unacceptable draw with a relegation-threatened Burnley.
FSG are still backing Slot for the time being, but there is talk that Liverpool could replace the Dutchman in the summer.
With less than half a season left to play, there is not much that can be done to salvage the Premier League campaign. The Reds remain fourth, but that’s hardly something to get excited by.
The one possible saving grace left for the season would be success in the Champions League.
But another drab display that results in Liverpool hardly testing the opposition goalkeeper is unlikely to get fans back on side.
So, when Slot prepares his squad for the trip to Marseille on Wednesday, it’s clear that more attacking threat is needed.

Mohamed Salah needs to start
Before his AFCON trip, Mohamed Salah failed to start five games in a row under Slot.
It was clear the 47-year-old was trying to find a better balance between defence and attack after conceding so many goals.
Slot has steadied the ship in some regard, but it has come at the cost of goals, chance creation and has made Liverpool incredibly boring.
However, adding Salah back into the front-three would instantly change that. The Egyptian may not be as defensively minded as Jeremie Frimpong or Dominik Szoboszlai, but Liverpool’s inability to truly test defences when he’s not in the side is worrying.
Crucially, putting the forward straight back into the team would keep the player happy and quell any potential speculation about his future that will surely arise if he starts on the bench in midweek.
Liverpool could have appointed De Zerbi! He’s lost the same number of games as Slot in 18 months!
Under-fire Liverpool duo should be benched vs Marseille
Liverpool fans have had a lot to complain about this season. But as well as the manager, two players have been particularly hammered of late.
Fans are tired of Cody Gakpo and his predictable nature, cutting inside to shoot every time he gets the ball.
Similarly, Curtis Jones has drawn the ire of supporters in recent weeks despite some previously impressive showings from the midfielder at the back end of 2025.
But that Burnley display, coupled with the general form of the team since this 12-game unbeaten run began, plus the anger building with the fanbase, means Slot would be wise to drop the duo against Marseille.

Alexander Isak, Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni are expected to be the only absentees for the clash.
