Liverpool have now drawn their last four Premier League matches under Arne Slot.

Florian Wirtz opened the scoring against Burnley as he continues to show signs of improvement.

Hugo Ekitike drew praise from fans as well for his role in the goal, with some suggesting he should be used off the left once Alexander Isak is back from injury.

On the whole, however, it was another disappointing day for supporters, who watched their side fade and drop two points to a newly-promoted team.

It’s the latest in a long line of questionable displays and results, and fans have been calling for Arne Slot to be replaced for some time.

Surely Arne Slot is living on borrowed time, when will Liverpool pull the trigger?

Liverpool fans want Xabi Alonso

Now, after the Burnley stalemate, fans have been saying that Xabi Alonso is the ‘perfect’ manager for Liverpool.

One fan wrote: “Enrique isn’t happening, not leaving PSG anytime soon, Alonso is perfect.”

“Xabi Alonso is pending.. Now is the perfect time, gentlemen,” stated a second.

A third wrote: “Perfect time to sack him and get Alonso in,” with another echoing: “Alonso is a perfect fit and available now. Every week we wait under Slot is another week of wasted potential. Not moving for him would be pure incompetence.”

“It’s literally the perfect time to sack Slot, Alonso is right there,” added a fifth.

A sixth commented: “Alonso is perfect for us not going to lie, he’s young, handsome, knows Wirtz and Frimpong, a club legend.”

While a seventh wrote: “Xabi Alonso is the perfect fit for Liverpool FC. He knows the club, he’s a good coach and the fans will get behind him.”

Will Xabi Alonso be Liverpool manager by the start of the 2026/27 season?

If no, where will he be instead?

Fabrizio Romano gives Xabi Alonso future update

It remains to be seen whether Liverpool will look to make a managerial change mid-season.

But when it comes to Alonso’s future, Fabrizio Romano recently suggested he will return to work in the summer.

Taking to Instagram, he wrote: “Xabi Alonso will be BACK SOON at work — not a long break anticipated.

“Top clubs around Europe maintaining active interest in Xabi despite his disappointing chapter at Real Madrid.

“He’s still seen as top coach in the industry, with clubs already preparing contacts… ahead of summer plans. Xabi will be back in summer 2026 or eventually 2027, not planning for any break needed. Hungry for more.”
