Liverpool fans vent their anger at transfer rumour, the club ‘are an absolute joke’

It has been an underwhelming start to the transfer window for Liverpool, with little business expected to be completed over the coming weeks.

Teenage star Ifeanyi Ndukwe has agreed to join the Reds, but the centre-back is not moving to Anfield until the close of the 2025/26 season.

In terms of senior signings, a quiet transfer window for Liverpool is expected.

That includes a potential move for Marc Guehi, who is now linked to Manchester City.

What are your score predictions as Liverpool take on Arsenal?

Could we scrape another VERY LUCKY win against them?

Man City could sign Antoine Semenyo and Guehi ahead of Arne Slot’s side this month, which has angered fans.

Liverpool fans furious at Manchester City interest in Marc Guehi

Losing out on two transfer targets to a direct rival is not something supporters are happy with at all.

And many have been venting their frustration at the possibility of Guehi agreeing terms with Pep Guardiola’s side on Rousing The Kop’s TalkingPoints platform.

One fan wrote: “Really surprised Liverpool haven’t at least tried to do a deal for one of them [Guehi or Semenyo].”

“It would serve us right if Guehi does go to City, we have messed about arguing over £5m when we have signed two players for $240m, a joke,” added a second.

Another commented: “Words would not be able to describe it [if Guehi went to City]! We are an absolute joke if we let this happen and would deserve everything we get!!”

“Such an own goal from Hughes and the team, wasted our time,” said a fourth in response to the Guehi to City rumour.

Another chose to hit out at Liverpool’s hierarchy: “It would be because of sleepy people that can’t make decisions – the man is in demand, if you want him pay the money, Hughes.”

A sixth claimed: “This would be really, really bad, he should be our top priority right now.”

“Does a player have to be liked by Hughes before he is considered by him, should the decision be on the player’s ability?” questioned another Reds fan.

While an eighth simply wrote: “Useless club giving players to [a] rival for nothing.”

CHANGE MY MIND: Richard Hughes should resign if Liverpool let Man City sign Guehi and Semenyo

Why Marc Guehi may not leave Crystal Palace in January

It’s easy to see why fans are so angry right now, given Liverpool have just three fit senior centre-backs one of whom, (Joe Gomez), has been needed at right-back this term.

But there is a chance that Guehi decides against moving to Man City this summer.

As journalist David Lynch told SportsMole, there is talk that the stopper would actually prefer to see out his contract at Selhurst Park before moving to a new club.

He said: “It was put to me, and I still get that sense, that there’s a preference on the players’ side to move in the summer.

“A summer move would be more lucrative, he would have more choices, he’d have a full choice to make in terms of the offers that are on the table, and he wouldn’t have to make a rushed move.

“There’s a risk as well if he moves in January because there’s a World Cup. Does he get overused at City because they’ve got injuries, does his form plummet because he’s settling in somewhere completely new? It might be a safer bet to stay at Crystal Palace.”
