Liverpool fans debate Arne Slot’s future after Ruben Amorim sacking, ‘Will only go if…’

Ruben Amorim became the latest Premier League manager to lose his job on Monday, while debate around Arne Slot’s role at Liverpool rages on.

Amorim’s dismissal comes with the Manchester outfit just three points below the Reds in the table, going into the latest round of games.

And while Liverpool have played more, the former Sporting boss has lost significantly fewer matches than Slot in 2025/26 (six vs 10).

What should happen to Arne Slot when Liverpool inevitably fail to beat Arsenal❓

As expected, given such a poor run, the Dutchman is by no means safe in the eyes of fans, with many calling for Liverpool to change managers after the 2-2 draw with Fulham on Sunday.

They could end the week down in sixth place and 17 points behind the Premier League leaders, Arsenal.

Should Liverpool copy Manchester United and sack Arne Slot?

But supporters can’t quite decide if their club should start to become like their old rivals, who have gone through countless managers since Sir Alex Ferguson.

They have been discussing Slot on Rousing The Kop’s TalkingPoints platform this week, with opinions split over what must happen to the manager.

Asked ‘why won’t Liverpool follow Man United’s lead and sack Arne Slot?’ one fan wrote: “Probably because he won the Premier League six months ago…”

But another hit back, saying: “Yes, he won the Premier League, but I was asking questions last season about his tactics and his passion. Why were players allowed to go on a short break after they won the league? Why did they see out the season in such a poor way? These were questions I was asking.”

A third responded: “In reality, things haven’t been good enough since March. We have rarely played well since the first-leg of the PSG tie.”

“Winning the championship was Klopp’s tactics, not this floppy manager”, stated a fourth.

“It’s so odd watching all these clubs, including Celtic, move for managers yet FSG are somehow sticking with Slot,” wrote another.

A sixth demanded: “Why on earth is he still here? Get him gone asap.”

But another claimed sacking Slot would make Liverpool into just as big a mess as Man Utd: “Then we’d be as much of a mess as those other clubs, which we aren’t. Doesn’t make any sense to sack a manager who won you the league last season, even with the squad he inherited.”

“We aren’t a reactionary club and Slot will only go if things are REALLY BAD and/or there is a very suitable replacement. Think United have shot themselves in the foot as there really isn’t anyone great to go for…” echoed an eighth.

What are your score predictions as Liverpool take on Arsenal?

While copying Manchester United, a club who have been in quite a mess since 2013, probably isn’t the best idea, something does need to change at Liverpool.

Even if a permanent solution can’t be found right now, hiring an interim boss to see out 2025/26 could be an option.

Steven Gerrard is out of work, and the return of a club legend could give both fans and players the boost they need to ensure a top-four finish is secured in the current campaign.
