Arne Slot has spoken to the media ahead of Liverpool facing Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.

The Dutchman provided an injury update on several players prior to the clash, with a couple of names out of action and two stars doubtful.

Elsewhere, Slot commented on Jeremie Frimpong potentially starting the fixture after his 30-minute cameo off the bench against Tottenham following his return to the squad.

But it was what the Liverpool boss said about Harvey Elliott that has drawn the ire of fans pre-match.

Liverpool fans angry with Arne Slot over Harvey Elliott

Elliott is on loan at Aston Villa this season, but is struggling for playing time.

In turn, Slot was asked about the Englishman’s future in his presser and said: “Harvey is an Aston Villa player and he is supposed to be going there for a season. Any questions about him, the best thing [is] to ask in Villa. But they are doing really well, by the way.”

The comments have not gone down well with supporters online, who have now questioned the Dutchman’s man-management skills.

One fan wrote: “Slot’s man-management is appalling.”

A second echoed: “It’s insane how horrible Slot is at managing players.”

Another tweeted: “Slot’s treatment of young players is exactly the opposite of what he was sold to us as. Even with Rio, he is basically justifying his lack of minutes by saying Rio has the most minutes of any 17-year-old in the PL. Doesn’t defend Harvey. Keeps saying ‘PL Experience’ to excuse it.”

“Slot’s attitude at times is questionable, with the injuries we have at the moment, bringing Elliott back to add some more experience to the bench and squad would be a good thing. His value will go down if he is not playing,” wrote a fourth.

A fifth added: “Slot will say anything to protect Gakpo and Gravenberch but won’t hesitate to trash-talk every other player. His man-management skills are very bad, and sooner or later, players will talk about it.”

“Slot’s management is absolutely the worst,” claimed another Liverpool fan, while a seventh added: “So that’s the management from a LFC manager now…”

What Arne Slot has said about Rio Ngumoha

This is not the first time supporters have questioned Slot when it comes to his man-management this season.

The use of Rio Ngumoha has been a topic of debate among the fanbase this term, and the Liverpool boss was asked about the youngster pre-Wolves.

He said: “I think I said last time already that for his age, if I’m correct he’s 17, I think he has, I’m not 100 per cent sure, the most minutes of all 17-year-olds in the Premier League, so that tells you how much playing time he gets, how special that already is for a 17-year-old.

“That also tells you something about his quality because it’s not completely normal for a 17-year-old already to have so much playing time as he had. But it also tells you something about the availability in those areas.”
