Liverpool have been trying to sign Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi since the 2025 summer transfer window.

A £35m offer for Guehi was thought to have been accepted earlier this year, but a deal never came to pass.

Amid Liverpool’s centre-backs struggling this season, however, it’s claimed that the England international could be a target again next month.

The Reds were not initially planning to make a winter move, but recent reports say that Liverpool could U-turn on Guehi to try and get a deal over the line in the next window.

However, they are not the only club eyeing up the soon-to-be free agent.

Bayern Munich to contact Marc Guehi

As the stopper’s Crystal Palace deal expires in June, foreign clubs can sign him to a pre-contract agreement from January.

Bayern Munich have now seemingly drawn up plans to make that happen, with journalist Florian Plettenberg sharing an update on X/Twitter this week.

He wrote: “From 1 January, Max Eberl [Bayern’s director of sport] is planning a personal phone call or meeting with Marc Guehi, after an initial meeting with the defender’s agent, as previously revealed.

“Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool and Bayern are all interested in signing him on a free transfer in the summer, and Eberl is known to be a major admirer.”

Meanwhile, Guehi is not the only Liverpool-linked player being discussed at Bayern this week.

Bayern Munich chief on signing Mohamed Salah

Mohamed Salah has received transfer interest amid his Liverpool future being cast into doubt after his post-Leeds United interview.

Italian clubs have been contacted for Salah by his agent, though a potential move to the Serie A seems unlikely due to the financial cost.

Elsewhere, as quoted by Goal, Bayern’s Max Eberl has been asked about signing Salah this week.

He said: “We have an outstanding talent in Lennart Karl. Putting someone ahead of him now makes absolutely no sense.

“We’ve talked about the squad before – we have players coming back [from injury]. The transfers are coming from within.

“There are no plans to bring in any new players right now; the squad is homogeneous and balanced. A new player could also cause unrest because roles would shift.

“I have followed his [Salah’s statements], but I haven’t gone into them in depth. How things proceed from here, honestly, thankfully, is not my problem.”
