Liverpool and West Ham United played out a Premier League tie at the London Stadium on Sunday.
Arne Slot was aiming to avoid yet another defeat as pressure builds on the Dutch manager.
He made some big changes before the game, seeing Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz return to the eleven, while Mohammed Salah was dropped.
Liverpool fans questioned Isak during the first half, suggesting the British transfer record addition is still way off his game.
But the Reds managed to go in at the break without conceding and did have a couple of chances that maybe should have been converted, Wirtz’s, in particular, being the standout.
Who was your man of the match during Liverpool’s 2-0 win over West Ham?
However, the German continues to perform and though much of the credit will be given to Isak and Cody Gakpo, the former Bayer Leverkusen man played a key role in Liverpool taking the lead.
Fans say Florian Wirtz was Liverpool’s best player vs West Ham
His performance on Sunday has now seen Liverpool fans flood social media to praise Wirtz’s work rate and creativity.
One fan wrote: “Wirtz with the hockey assist, he’s been producing like crazy. G/A isn’t going to show that. Our best creator.”
“Wirtz is a baller btw, I keep telling you man, no one ain’t been on his wavelength,” stated a second.
Another added: “Stats will show a Gakpo assist for this game and likely a higher rating, but Wirtz has been our best player on the pitch.”
A fourth tweeted: “Wirtz having his best PL game in an LFC shirt the day Slot benched Salah is spicy.”
“Wirtz covers wayyy too much ground,” joked a fifth.
Another fan added: “Wirtz is looking ready for the PL now,” with a seventh echoing: “Florian Wirtz has been so brilliant this match,” and yet another writing: “Florian Wirtz. What a player MOTM.”

Jamie Carragher’s verdict on Florian Wirtz
Unsurprisingly, Jamie Carragher had a very similar verdict on Wirtz’s performance versus West Ham.
Speaking live on Sky Sports at half-time, he called the 22-year-old Liverpool’s best player.
Carragher said: “[Florian Wirtz] has been the best player on the pitch. It’s his best 45 minutes in a Liverpool shirt.
“I thought initially he’d be on the right, but he’s been in his favoured position, tucked in on the left between the lines.
“He should do better with his chance, but he’s been head and shoulders above everyone else on the pitch.”
Liverpool now return to action against Sunderland on Wednesday, and Wirtz simply must start.
