Anfield’s reputation as a fortress to be feared has taken a battering this week after two damaging Liverpool results.
The Reds have often been able to rely on their home stadium to get them out of tough spots, particularly during European encounters.
However, after Liverpool fans watched Nottingham Forest take them to the cleaners on Saturday, they could do nothing as PSV Eindhoven inflicted another worrying defeat.
Should Liverpool sack Arne Slot?
Knowing their team were in need of a lift, Liverpool supporters were loud at Anfield on Wednesday. In a way, the players responded for a time.
But once the wheels came off it was clear just how brittle this squad has become under Arne Slot. And after seeing PSV take home a richly deserved 4-1 win, it was clear that many in the stands had had enough.

Anfield shows little mercy to Arne Slot and Liverpool
Liverpool fans are often seen as some of the most patient and forgiving in the country when it comes to their team.
Anfield is generally a positive atmosphere for Liverpool as a result, and it can take a lot for the stadium to turn against their own.

But as journalist Beth Lindop shared on X, dissent is beginning to form. Even match-going Reds fans are starting to see that the writing may be on the wall for Slot.
Watching Lindop’s video of the full-time reaction, audible boos can be heard coming from the stands.
Liverpool supporters heard booing their team after losing 4-1 against PSV Eindhoven at Anfield
“A fair few boos at the full time whistle at Anfield. Pretty damning,” writes the reporter.
Slot has so much credit in the bank with these fans for what he delivered them last season. But once those who pay their money to come and watch you start to fall away, it feels like things are only going one way.
How Slot can get Anfield back on-side
It is not often you will hear boos from Anfield which actually relate to the performance of their team on the pitch. In good and bad they tend to stick with their own.
However, things are at an all-time low right now. Liverpool have not been in worse form since 1953. If there is a time to boo then it is now.
Winning will obviously get fans back on-side, but it feels like more than that between Slot and the Reds supporters now.
If Liverpool lose while giving it their all and playing an exciting, attacking brand of football, much will be forgiven. But in their current iteration the Reds are miles away from that.
The football is slow, ponderous and disjointed. When you couple that with consistently losing, there is only so long any manager can last. There is potentially a way back for Slot, but not like this.
