Liverpool finally won a Premier League game.
The Reds beat Aston Villa 2-0 at Anfield on Saturday evening, with Arne Slot’s men putting in a fairly dominant performance after they scored the opener.
Admittedly, there were times within the first 40 minutes of the game when it felt like the Villans could topple the reigning Premier League champions, but, fortunately, the true quality of Liverpool’s team shone through.
Slot’s men were also helped out by the return of Ryan Gravenberch, who managed to get himself in on the scoring to send the Anfield outfit 2-0 up.

Liverpool’s fans are often very vocal, with supporters now taking to social media to show their appreciation for the Dutchman.
Ryan Gravenberch leaves Liverpool fans awestruck
When Gravenberch isn’t in Liverpool’s starting XI, he is greatly missed.
Many thought that if the Reds were beaten by Villa on Saturday that their Premier League title hopes would be as good as over.
However, with Gravenberch returning, it was clear that things weren’t going to go that way with Virgil van Dijk’s statement on his fellow countryman now coming true.
Earlier in the 2025-26 season, Van Dijk lauded the midfielder and said, “Not just this season, he’s [Gravenberch] been playing like that from the moment last season started,” in quotes relayed by Liverpool.com.
“He’s unbelievable. He’s very important to the way we play.”
And now, Liverpool’s fans have proven this to be true with each one of them lauding Gravenberch’s performance.
One fan wrote on X: “RYAN GRAVENBERCH WITH AN INCREDIBLE GOAL.”
While a second said: “Gravenberch returns and Liverpool rediscovers their form.”
A third added: “So what I learned today is that Ryan Gravenberch can never get injured again.”
A fifth spoke about how much the Reds missed the midfielder: “We missed Gravenberch so much. So so much.”
A sixth fan shared their thoughts on the “crazy” difference the Dutchman made: “Crazy the difference in performance for Liverpool when Gravenberch is fit and firing, he’s been class so far.”
Lastly, an eighth claimed that the midfielder reminded them of Georgino Wijnaldum by adding a picture of the former Liverpool ace to their post and writing: “Gravenberch reminded me of someone.”
Arne Slot must wrap Ryan Gravenberch in cotton wool for the rest of the season
If there’s one thing that’s been made more than clear over the last 10 days or so, it’s that Gravenberch is essential to the way Liverpool play.
When the midfielder starts, the Reds’ entire starting XI becomes much more structured, and to be honest, they all seem to perform much better.
Even though he’s deployed as a number six, he’s still managing to get in on the goals and help the Anfield outfit earn some vital points.
Fortunately, Gravenberch’s recent injury wasn’t too bad, but if he somehow got sidelined for over a month, Liverpool would have been in massive trouble.
Liverpool do have Wataru Endo to fill in for the former Bayern Munich man, but after his performances this term, using him wouldn’t be their best idea.
So, from now on, if Slot does not wrap Gravenberch in cotton wool, questions may need to be asked.
