Three things learned from Liverpool’s win vs Aston Villa as Dominik Szoboszlai conundrum answered

Liverpool finally managed to add another Premier League win to their tally after they beat Aston Villa 2-0 in their Premier League clash on Saturday.

The game was held at Anfield and, although the Reds were dominated for most of the first half, Emiliano Martinez’s gift allowed Liverpool to take the lead.

From the point that Mohamed Salah netted the opening goal, Liverpool looked to be the ones in control and were actually showing signs of their quality.

In the end, Arne Slot’s men finally put on a decent showing after a month of poor results, and here are three things spotted from a solid display.

Dominik Szoboszlai is far too good to be used as a right-back by Liverpool

Alongside Hugo Ekitike, Dominik Szoboszlai has been one of Liverpool’s best performers.

The attacking midfielder has often single-handedly earned the Reds points with his 30-yard free kick against Arsenal the only reason why Liverpool left with all three against the Premier League leaders.

However, since Slot’s men have had a bit of a conundrum at right-back this term, the Hungarian has been used out of position on more than one occasion.

And, while Szoboszlai may have arguably been the best of all the players used at right-back this term, his last couple of performances have proven that he’s far too good to be used anywhere else.

His ability to constantly press and ping a pass across the pitch is something you just can’t teach.

He also has a keen eye for goal, and, without him in midfield, you can tell that the Anfield outfit are much worse off, which is why Slot can’t continue to use him there, even though he has performed well.

Arne Slot needs to get Liverpool to pass to their striker more

Now that Alexander Isak is out injured for Liverpool, Ekitike has been the one chosen to lead the Reds’ line.

The Frenchman almost got his name on the scoresheet in the first half, but he unfortunately strayed into an offside position.

Aside from this one moment, there was hardly a point in the game when Ekitike was given the ball.

He was often spotted dropping back to try and get involved in the clash, but when you’re supposed to be the focal point of an attack, you don’t really want to be constantly dropping behind your own wingers.

If Slot wants to turn Liverpool’s fortunes around soon, he needs to force his starting XI to try and get the ball to their number nine more.

Whether it’s Isak, Ekitike or even Federico Chiesa leading the line, Liverpool’s number nine needs to be used an awful lot more.

Mohamed Salah is back to his best for Liverpool

Almost all of Liverpool’s players have had a tough time of it this season.

Several members of Slot’s first-team squad have looked like lost sheep with no idea about what they need to do.

Saturday’s game against Villa somehow managed to change that, with Salah even getting back to his best.

The Egyptian King is usually Liverpool’s go-to man, but this term, he’s not been his usual self.

Salah has been in much worse form than fans are used to, but his performance against Villa proves that the Egyptian King that fans know and love is still in there.

The winger seemed to track back and help out Conor Bradley much more than he has been doing over the last few weeks, which meant that the Reds were much more solid in defence.

Of course, this was only one game, and things could go back to how they were, but after proving their dominance against the Villans, it feels like Liverpool and Salah are back.
