Jamie Redknapp has now said something he has rarely said about Arne Slot at Liverpool

Jamie Redknapp believes that Liverpool’s starting XI against Crystal Palace was a “big mistake” from Arne Slot.

Although the Reds have several members of their first-team squad out injured at the moment, nobody expected Slot to field such a weak team against the Eagles.

Most thought that he’d be putting everything he could into winning the game, especially with how things have panned out the last couple of times that the teams met.

This didn’t end up being the case with the Dutchman plucking half of his starting XI from the Under-21s, with no senior players featuring on the bench either.

And, since Liverpool have now lost six out of their last seven games across all competitions, Redknapp reckons that Slot is now under “real pressure” to keep his job.

Jamie Redknapp thinks Arne Slot’s future could be brought into question now

Talk of Slot being sacked by Liverpool has been slowly emerging over the last couple of weeks.

Liverpool aren’t usually ones to jump the gun, but other Premier League teams, such as Nottingham Forest, have already had three managers this season.

Although the form that the Anfield outfit are in at the moment is bad, it would be a shock to see Slot be relieved of his duties.

Despite this, Redknapp believes that if Liverpool don’t get results from their next three games, some serious questions will have to be asked.

“I haven’t said this a lot about Slot because he’s been sensational since arriving at Anfield, but the team selection against Palace was a big mistake,” he said live on Sky Sports.

“Slot’s been unbelievable since he’s come to the club, but he’s under some real pressure. That’s football. That’s the price on the ticket.

“If they get a couple of great results against Aston Villa and Real Madrid, we’ll be saying he made the right decision. He will say he got it right.

“They climbed the mountain last season and were absolutely sensational. Now they’ve got to go back to that character they showed when they won the title and stick together and get results.

“When you ask what is going wrong with Liverpool, there are so many things.

“It’s not just the defence, it’s not just the midfield or the forwards, it is so many things. It is everything right now.”

Liverpool cannot think about sacking Arne Slot any time soon

Admittedly, times are tough for Liverpool at the moment, with no end to their poor run of form in sight.

Despite their below-par performances, the rumours of Slot being sacked even emerging are silly.

Slot managed to win the Premier League at the first time of asking last season and, to be honest, he brought some of the most entertaining football to Anfield in recent memory.

Liverpool’s massive summer of spending will have no doubt played a part in the way things have panned out this season, as each player is trying to prove that they’re the best.

However, if they don’t figure out a way to work together soon, Slot could end up under some serious pressure.

At the moment, the Dutchman still believes in his team and thinks that their best is yet to come.

However, if there isn’t a noticeable upturn in form soon, it could end badly for the Dutchman.
