Liverpool fell to defeat against Crystal Palace for the third time already this season.
The Reds’ poor run of form continued as one of their chances of silverware has also vanished in the process, with Palace winning 3-0 at Anfield.
Arne Slot rang the changes with a weakened side, while also filling the bench with young stars from the academy.
It was another night to forget, though, with a big performance now needed at Aston Villa at the weekend. Here is how the players rated.
Defence
Freddie Woodman: 6 – Made a few decent early saves to settle the game down, but then couldn’t do anything about either of Ismaila Sarr’s goals. Didn’t do anything wrong, so cannot really knock him to be fair.
Wataru Endo: 6 – Set the tone early with a few big tackles and looked calm on the ball. Lost Sarr for the second goal, though, and he is just a far better midfielder than centre-back.
Joe Gomez: 5 – Started the game well and fans loved his performance, then he just crumbled. Sloppy play meant he passed it straight to Sarr, then he miskicked the ball shortly after, which caused more issues. A mixed night for the Englishman.
Andy Robertson: 6 – Captain for the night and playing as one of the centre-backs in a back three, but it just didn’t work. Looked fairly solid and didn’t do too much wrong, but lacked his attacking threat due to his central position.

Calvin Ramsay: 5 – The Scotsman’s first start for over 1,000 days, and this was evident. Was a little off the pace at the start and perhaps could have done better defensively for the second goal. The right-back position continues to be an issue.
Milos Kerkez: 5 – The Hungarian was able to play a little further forward due to the formation, but even then he couldn’t impact the game. Had a decent understanding with Rio Ngumoha but still waiting for a strong performance.
Midfield:
Alexis Mac Allister: 6 – Started the game as one of the better players on the pitch with neat touches and a tenacious attitude. Also showed some composed moments in the second half before being taken off as he is still having his minutes managed.
Trey Nyoni: 6 – Cannot knock his work-rate as he was everywhere, but was not the most decisive on the ball. Looked settled in the game, however, and wouldn’t say he looked out of place.
Attack
Kieran Morrison: 5 – Wasn’t found as much as he would have liked and was a quiet debut overall. A few good touches and showed flashes of promise, just not enough to make an impact.
Federico Chiesa: 7 – One of the liveliest players and showed some nice touches, also worked hard. Felt like he didn’t have much help, though, meaning he couldn’t link-up as well as he could if playing with the likes of Cody Gakpo.
Rio Ngumoha: 6 – Started brightly and had a good curling effort that just went wide. Slowed down a little bit after picking up a knock and also didn’t have the impact he would have hoped for.
Substitutes:
Wellity Lucky: 5 – Brilliant surname but, unfortunately, he couldn’t bring any luck to the Reds off the bench. Looked composed on the ball, though, which is a positive.
Amara Nallo: 2 – His debut for the Reds lasted just five minutes against PSV, this time he lasted just over 10 minutes. Was unlucky with the sending off as the collision was unfortunate, but definitely the right decision.
Kaide Gordon: 5 – Hasn’t had a first-team appearance in a while so was good to see him back out there again. Didn’t manage to leave an impression, however, and barely touched the ball.
Trent Kone-Doherty: N/A
