Supercomputer predicts Liverpool v Crystal Palace result after what’s just happened

Liverpool are gearing up to face Crystal Palace in their Carabao Cup clash on Wednesday.

This will be the third time that Liverpool have played the Eagles this season, with their two previous meetings ending in defeat.

Oliver Glasner seems to have figured out the best way to beat Arne Slot’s men, even if they did get a little lucky last time out.

Things just haven’t been going to plan for the Anfield outfit this season, with the team performing nowhere near their usual standards.

And now, ahead of Wednesday’s tie, the Opta supercomputer has predicted who’s going to come out on top.

Several players among Liverpool’s first-team squad can be blamed for their recent run of poor form.

Ibrahima Konate has been in the worst form of his Liverpool career this season, while Milos Kerkez still hasn’t got used to life at a big six club.

Indeed, the latter of the two did manage to net his first goal for the Anfield outfit, but that still doesn’t excuse his poor performances.

However, despite all this, Opta’s supercomputer still thinks that Liverpool will come out on top.

Liverpool have been given a 58 per cent chance of winning the game, while Crystal Palace have only been given a 19 per cent chance.

The remaining 21 per cent is for a draw, and, if that ends up being the case, the game will be decided on penalties, which wouldn’t be good for Liverpool, especially given their history of penalty shoot-outs under Slot.

Although the supercomputer is heavily in Liverpool’s favour, their last two results against the Eagles prove that Wednesday’s game will be no walk in the park.

Palace may not have won since they beat Liverpool in the Premier League, but that doesn’t mean that Glasner’s men won’t have a trick or two up their sleeve to beat the Merseyside outfit.

In reality, Liverpool should be able to rest most of their best XI as the domestic trophies don’t hold as much weight as the Champions League or Premier League do.

This is why players such as Freddie Woodman and Calvin Ramsey are being touted for their first Liverpool start of the season.

There are plenty of ifs, buts, and maybes going into Wednesday’s tie, but if the Reds can dig their heels in and put in a performance similar to what they showed against Eintracht Frankfurt last week, they’ll be onto a winner.
