Liverpool Premier League winner sends tone-deaf congratulations to Harry Maguire after Anfield goal

Dejan Lovren has congratulated Harry Maguire after he netted the winner for Manchester United in their recent Premier League clash against Liverpool.

United added to the Reds’ misery last week with Ruben Amorim’s men managing to beat Liverpool 2-1.

Admittedly, during the first half, the Red Devils more than deserved to win the game but with the performance that the Anfield outfit put in during the second 45, it felt like a draw would have been a fair result.

The fact that Cody Gakpo hit the post three or four times during the game shows how unlucky Arne Slot’s men actually got.

And, even if Maguire put in a good performance and scored the winning goal, it’s still baffling to see Lovren congratulate the Englishman for his performance.

Dejan Lovren says Harry Maguire deserved his goal against Liverpool

During Lovren’s time with Liverpool, he managed to win the Premier League and even form a close relationship with Mohamed Salah.

Since exiting Anfield, the Croatian has bounced around a few different clubs and he currently plays for Greek outfit PAOK.

Now that he’s 36 years old, it’s evident that his career will be coming to an end soon.

That shouldn’t, however, mean that he wants to congratulate a Man United player for scoring the winning goal against his former club.

However, that’s exactly what he did as he left a well-done message on Fabrizio Romano’s Instagram account for the former Leicester defender.

“Harry deserves it 100%,” he wrote.

“Not many players would ever come back after what he went through.

“As a LFC supporter well done Harry.”

Liverpool managed to make up for their derby defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt

When Liverpool conceded first against Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday, fans likely expected the Reds to add a fifth defeat to their losing streak.

Something hasn’t been quite the same at Anfield this season, whether that be because of the several changes that Slot has made to his first-team squad or whether their tactics have been figured out, things just haven’t been right.

Salah has been miles off the pace with Ibrahima Konate also performing well below his usual standards for Liverpool.

Despite this, the Reds still managed to put in an impressive performance in their Champions League clash on Wednesday as they beat the Bundesliga outfit 5-1.

Indeed, Salah wasn’t part of the Reds’ starting XI but now that Alexander Isak has injured his groin, it gives Slot the ideal chance to try the Egyptian King as a striker.

If it works out, it would give the Dutchman three number nine options and allow them to continue playing in the 4-4-2 system he tested out which could be massively beneficial to Liverpool this term.
