Kenny Dalglish doesn’t think anyone should be turning their nose up at Mohamed Salah despite his recent poor form for Liverpool.
The Egyptian King has been far from his best for Liverpool this season, with players such as Hugo Ekitike and even Cody Gakpo outperforming him.
To be honest, none of the Reds’ first-team squad have been at their best since the 2025-26 campaign kicked off, aside from Ekitike, of course.

Salah has often been the man that the Anfield outfit have turned to in their hour of need, but now, it feels like the winger needs to turn towards fans in his hour of need, with Dalglish backing him to get back to his best soon.
Kenny Dalglish wouldn’t ‘back against’ Mohamed Salah despite his poor form for Liverpool
Despite the 2025-26 season being seen as a slow start for Salah, he’s still contributed to six goals across all competitions.
These numbers are similar to Ekitike’s, who fans have lauded for his quick adaptation to life at Anfield.
Indeed, this version of Salah isn’t what Liverpool fans are used to seeing, but in his time of need, it feels like fans should be backing him, rather than piling onto him.
And while speaking to Sky Sports News, Liverpool legend Dalglish was asked whether the best of Mohamed Salah is likely to come out this term.
To which, he replied: “Do you want to back against him? I don’t.”
Mohamed Salah will come good for Liverpool at some point this season
The fact that Alexander Isak and Ekitike were signed by Liverpool in the summer means that Salah’s role within Slot’s set-up will have changed massively.
Last season, the Egyptian King was the Reds’ main man, with his performances often the thing carrying them through their dry spells.
However, since the former Chelsea man hasn’t been firing this season, it has meant that Liverpool have suffered.

Despite winning their first five Premier League games of the season, the rest of their top-flight outings have been well below the standards expected, with their lowest point being their 2-1 defeat to Manchester United.
At the moment, it’s unclear when Salah will get out of his rut, but, if the Egyptian King has shown us anything over the last few years, it’s that, when Liverpool need him the most, he always shows up.
