Despite starting Liverpool’s win over Eintracht Frankfurt on the bench, all eyes were still on Mohamed Salah at the Deutsche Bank Park.
The Egyptian has been in the midst of arguably his most difficult spell since joining the Reds in 2017.
As a result, Arne Slot made the decision to hold Salah back as Liverpool went in search of an end to their four-game losing streak.
With the team winning comfortably, Slot brought Salah on for the final 16 minutes, although his cameo suggested that the 33-year-old may have to sit out of another game on Saturday.
Supporters were disappointed after seeing Salah pass up a good chance to hand Florian Wirtz his first Liverpool goal. Instead of squaring to Wirtz for a tap in, the Egyptian King took the shot himself, tamely firing straight at the goalkeeper.
There was greater sorrow for fans when it was reported that Salah headed straight down the tunnel at full-time, with the legendary winger said to have been in a ‘strop’ at the end of the match. Having digested this news, Liverpool supporters appear in no mood to entertain Salah’s frustration.

Liverpool supporters not impressed with Mohamed Salah
It has been rare for Salah to sit on the bench at any point during his Liverpool career. However, on the back of some really poor performances, he could hardly argue with Slot’s decision on Wednesday.
Nevertheless, his reported actions at the final whistle suggest that Salah is not happy with the arrangement. According to fans on Rousing The Kop’s Facebook page, though, the No. 11 was in the wrong.

“Salah must understand there are players currently playing better than him and you need the rest too,” said one supporter. “He will start again this weekend. The team and the club is much more important. He has to accept this season he may not play a lot or even coming off from the bench.”
“He is paid well to do his job, that is scoring lots of goals,” another added. “If cannot score, at least provides assists. If both jobs also cannot do well, then bench is the best for him until he recovers his scoring form through matches substitution.”
“He needs to be a team player. For now he’s down and he’s the reason the team wasn’t balanced. It’s about the team and not an individual,” someone else chimed in.
“He is a legend but he has been below par, he has to earn his place like anyone else,” was another’s view, with one more supporter simply stating: “We played better without him.”
“Come on Salah something needed to change it can’t be about you all the time,” another claimed, with more suggesting that the Liverpool legend may need to get used to being out of the team.
“He will continue to be on the bench until such a time that he learns to be a team player. By now he should be interested in giving assist than trying hard to score.”
Salah will be back on Saturday
If Salah really did storm off following the full-time whistle, fans have a right to question his behaviour. Right now, Liverpool need everyone pulling in the same direction.
However, it should be pointed out that there were images of Salah applauding fans at the end of the game, suggesting that he did not head immediately for the tunnel.

Either way, while Liverpool were better on Wednesday, it is more than likely that Salah will return to the starting line-up for Saturday’s visit to Brentford.
Alexander Isak was taken off with an injury against Eintracht, and it feels unlikely that he will be risked even if he is appears ready.
As a result, there is a spot open once again for Salah to step into. He has often used criticism as a way to fuel his performances since his arrival at Liverpool. Fans will be hoping he can channel that once again to get back to the Salah of old.
