Liverpool got back to winning ways and Curtis Jones played a starring role.

The Reds needed a big reaction against Eintracht Frankfurt after going on a run of four successive defeats, and that is exactly what they gave the fans.

They came away with a 5-1 victory after a five star performance, with Arne Slot experimenting in this game to good effect.

One of the things he did was start Jones in midfield after leaving him on the bench for the majority of matches this season, with the scouser proving that he is the perfect candidate to get Liverpool’s season back on track.

Curtis Jones was dominant vs Frankfurt

Jones has always been an ‘excellent’ talent, he just has not always had the chance to prove it, not for long spells in the team at least.

But in the Champions League on Wednesday night, he showed exactly why he should be starting more often, with the large majority of Liverpool’s play going through the 24-year-old.

As per Opta, Jones completed 122 passes during the game, which is the most ever by a Liverpool player in a UEFA Champions League since their records began.

A lot of these were progressive too as he always wanted to move the ball forward, doing so to great effect.

With someone like Alexis Mac Allister struggling for form in the early part of the season, there is certainly an opportunity for a place in the side, and after how well Jones played, the Argentinian star might be starting to get a little worried.

Curtis Jones is determined to put things right at Liverpool

Jones came through the academy and has been a Red his whole career, both in terms of a player and a fan.

So he knows more than anyone what it takes to wear the famous shirt and what needs to be done to be deserving of it, which is why he gives his all every time he plays.

He also admitted just how much this run of form has affected him, with his comments after the game proving that he is the perfect player to have in the team to drive them forward.

“I’m a Scouser, so I feel that the four games that we lost, it hurt me more than those lads,” he told LFCTV.

“I’m not saying it didn’t affect them, but I’m a fan from a kid, so I made sure that tonight I just run first of all, I tried to bring an energy in the team that the lads had to go and press.

“I was vocal more on the pitch, I made sure that we came away with a win.”

Jones certainly did his chances of starting in the future no harm at all, and if anything, he has shown why he might need to be one of the first names on the teamsheet.
