Arne Slot may have seen one of this season’s biggest problems solved during Liverpool’s win over Eintracht

Liverpool’s emphatic win in the Champions League finally saw them put in a convincing performance.

The Reds put a stop to their four-game losing streak with an impressive victory over Eintracht Frankfurt, a result that was very much needed.

Liverpool put five past the German side, all coming from different goalscorers, with fans hoping this can be the turning point they needed to really kick-start their season.

Arne Slot made a raft of changes to his squad for this one, with the majority of them appearing to work after a dominant outing.

There was one position in particular where he made a change, though, due to the amount of problems it has caused Liverpool this season, with the player he brought in looking like the solution.

Andy Robertson has to start at left-back more often for Liverpool

Both full-back areas have been problems for the Reds at the beginning of the campaign, although Slot seemed more hesitant to make changes on the left compared to how many he was making on the right.

Despite Milos Kerkez struggling massively in the majority of games he has played, the Hungarian continued to keep his place in the side, much to the frustration of fans.

Why this was even more confusing was because they have had Andy Robertson on the bench the whole time, with the experienced defender hardly getting a look in.

Jamie Carragher was confused why Robertson was not playing more, and supporters will be too after how good he was against Eintracht.

The Scotsman added a better balance to that side of the pitch and knew when to go forward, but also come back.

He also produced some brilliant crosses and passes for his teammates, with one of them assisting Hugo Ekitike for the Reds’ opening goal.

His vision and execution of the pass was second-to-none, showing how he still has it in his locker and can be relied upon when needed.

Although he could have done a little better for their goal, overall he was very steady at the back, something Liverpool really need given how their season has gone so far.

Andy Robertson needs a new contract

There were doubts whether Robertson would even be a Liverpool player this season after rumours with a move away, but keeping him around might be more important than many realise.

His experience is one thing but his leadership another, with it being no surprise that Slot made him vice-captain over the summer.

At just 31, he still has plenty to offer too, as shown by his performance in Germany, meaning that Liverpool should really start thinking about extending his contract.

It runs out in the summer and although he is not first-choice, guaranteeing him a good amount of minutes, which is what he deserves, could be enough to tempt him to stay.

Kerkez also does not look ready just yet, meaning at least another year of learning from him might just help the Reds out in the long run.
