Arne Slot played both Hugo Ekitke and Alexander Isak up front together.

The Reds finally got back to winning ways with a 5-1 victory against Eintracht Frankfurt, with fans hoping they can kick on from here.

Slot experimented and tried some different things for this one, with one of them being to start both his new strikers together.

Ekitike got himself on the scoresheet but Isak failed to impress, with the Swede coming off at half-time for Federico Chiesa.

The Frenchman gave his verdict on how it felt to play alongside his new teammate for once, suggesting that he is ready for the next time they can play again together.

Hugo Ekitike on what it was like playing with Alexander Isak

Isak had started the last few games ahead of Ekitike much to the surprise of many, with it hard to look past the price tag being the reason for this.

However, based on form, it is the Frenchman who should have been the one getting the nod, and he proved that yet again during this win in the Champions League.

Ekitike was asked afterwards about what it was like to play with Isak, though, and it is safe to say this could be the start of something big.

I think that was good. Obviously it was our best half together, but I think we can improve together,” he told TNT Sports.

“He’s a very good player, I know in time we need to work together and find a nice association. The links will come and it will work.”

The new system that Slot tried certainly worked, especially in the final third, so it will be interesting to see how he sets up against Brentford on Saturday.

Hugo Ekitike is clinical

Isak had a few chances early on in the game while he was on the pitch but, unfortunately, he could not finish them.

Ekitike on the other hand, did not get many at all, although the first one he got, he took.

He latched on to an excellent ball from Andy Robertson and ran a long way before slotting it home, with it a very cool finish that not many others could have done.

Whether Slot starts with both of them or just one of them against Brentford, it is very obvious that Ekitike should be on the teamsheet no matter what.
