Tyler Morton has thrived since leaving Liverpool in the summer.
Morton has quickly become a fan favourite at Lyon due to his impeccable performances.
At the moment, it feels like Liverpool will regret selling the youngster, but on the face of things, it was certainly the right thing to do, especially since Ryan Gravenberch will be Arne Slot’s first choice.
Liverpool sold Morton for £15 million, with the club looking towards Stefan Bajcetic and Wataru Endo to be the Dutchman’s back-up this term.

And now, just a few months after leaving, the young Englishman has explained why he thinks Slot chose to move him on.
Tyler Morton says that Arne Slot didn’t trust him when he played for Liverpool
The 2023-24 season was the best of Morton’s career.
The midfielder spent the campaign on loan to Championship side Hull City, with Liam Rosenior lauding his performances at almost every chance he got.
Many Liverpool fans expected Morton to come into Slot’s first-team squad during the 2024-25 season and perhaps even rotate with Gravenberch, especially since they turned down multiple offers for him.
In the end, he barely featured with the Englishman now explaining why he thinks Slot never chose to play him at Anfield.
“I think he thought I was a good player, but I don’t feel the trust was there as much,” he said to SPORTbible.
“In my opinion, the limited opportunities were down to trust and not ability.
“When I got my opportunity in the cup, I felt like I played well. That’s all I could say. I stuck at it, stayed focused, got through to the end of the season and played in the under-21 Euros, which was amazing.
“I had a few conversations with him (Slot) during the season.
“A lot of footballers can be bitter about not playing and let their egos get in the way, but I’m not that type of lad.
“I personally disagreed with the limited amount of game time I got last season, but that was out of my control. I did everything I could.
“I played for the under-21s when a lot of players wouldn’t. I did everything in my power to stay fit and mentally focused for when my time came, and I still got limited opportunities.”
Arne Slot could end up living to regret allowing Tyler Morton to leave Liverpool
Although Gravenberch is likely to be Liverpool’s main holding midfielder for years to come, it feels like Morton should have been given more of a chance to prove himself.
The 22-year-old managed to work his way through Liverpool’s academy, with Jurgen Klopp even seeing him as one of the next big things to emerge from L4.
In the end, however, things didn’t work out that way, and now he’s regularly playing games for Lyon in Ligue 1; his talents are shining through.

Not only is he an incredible passer of the ball, but he’s also able to orchestrate the games he plays single-handedly while also being a perfect link between the defence and the attack.
In fact, Morton has even outperformed some of Liverpool’s midfielders in several statistics this season.
This is why Slot could end up regretting the sale of the youngster.
