Mohamed Salah has had a tough time of it this season with Liverpool fans calling for him to be axed by Arne Slot.
The attacker is one of the only players who has managed to keep his place in Liverpool’s starting XI after their recent poor form.
Many fans and pundits have said that the Egyptian’s form is becoming a concern for them, but after what he’s just done for Egypt against Djibouti, that doesn’t feel like it should be the case.
Salah bagged a brace in Egypt’s 3-0 win, which sealed their qualification to the 2026 World Cup.

And now, thanks to his double, Egyptian media have reacted to the performance of Liverpool’s star man.
Mohamed Salah was a ‘class apart’ from his Egyptian teammates on Wednesday
Although Salah usually performs to a high standard for Liverpool, he’s easily Egypt’s best player.
Of course, they do have Omar Marmoush to help lead their attacking line, but more often than not, it always falls onto the shoulders of Salah.
Admittedly, the attacker hasn’t been his usual goal-scoring self for Liverpool in the 2025-26 season, but now that he’s got himself a brace, he may end up coming back to Anfield as a different player.
And, according to Sports Dunia, the attacker was a ‘class apart’ from his teammates, with the outlet giving him a 9/10 rating.
“The captain led by example and was simply a class apart. He scored two clinical goals, one in each half, showing his predatory instincts in the box,” they wrote.
“His movement was too much for the opposition to handle. It was a truly dominant performance from the highest-rated player on the pitch, who sealed the victory with his brilliance.”
Egyptian outlet Erem News also shared the same thoughts as Sports Dunia as they also rated the attacker a 9/10.
“Mohamed Salah delivered one of his most complete performances for the national team, confidently leading his teammates and scoring two crucial goals that demonstrated his prodigious scoring instincts inside the penalty area,” they wrote.
“His movements confused Djibouti’s defense, and his shots were decisive, earning him the highest rating in the match (9 out of 10).”
Mohamed Salah must get back to his best for Liverpool before it’s too late
For the last few years, Salah has been the most important player among Liverpool’s ranks.
The attacker contributed to 57 goals across all competitions last season in what was arguably one of the best-ever individual performances from a Premier League player.
More or less every attack went through the winger, whether that be scoring the goal itself or setting up one of his teammates. Salah was always in and around the goal, no matter who Liverpool’s opponent was.
This season, the tides seem to have turned a little with Hugo Ekitike now becoming the main man.

Of course, it’s still early days, so Alexander Isak could also take the reins at any point, but at the moment, it feels like Salah is being overshadowed.
If he can manage to bring his form with Egypt back to Anfield upon his return from the international break, things will end up much better for Liverpool with their title chances, perhaps even getting revived.
