Remarkable Mohamed Salah statistic emerges which shows why Liverpool fans can’t write him off yet

Mohamed Salah has found himself under plenty of scrutiny at Liverpool this season.

The attacker hasn’t been up to his usual standards, which has caused some people to say that he’s past his best.

This is all coming after the attacker managed to contribute to 57 goals across all competitions for Liverpool last season and was arguably one of the best players in the world.

Indeed, things aren’t going swimmingly at the moment, but, due to the number of changes that have occurred at Anfield this summer, it’s clear that it’s going to take time for him to get into the swing of things.

And, after he managed to bag two goals against Djibouti in Egypt’s 3-0 win over them on Wednesday evening, it’s clear that he still has plenty of talent within him.

Mohamed Salah has led Egypt to two of the last three World Cups after going 28 years without qualifying before that

It goes without saying that Salah is Egypt’s star man.

Of course, others, such as Omar Marmoush, also have a major part to play in their success, but without Salah, they’d be nowhere near as strong as they are.

Although the winger hasn’t won a major trophy with his country yet, the fact that he’s taken them to the AFCON final and is going to lead them to his second World Cup shows how good he actually is.

And, as per a fresh report from TNT Sports via their official X account, it seems like without Salah among their ranks, Egypt were in fact much worse off.

“Egypt went 28 years without qualifying for a World Cup,” they wrote.

“They’ve now qualified for two of the last three – 2018 & 2026.”

Liverpool need this version of Mohamed Salah to return after the international break

As mentioned, Salah hasn’t been at his best this season.

In fact, some fans have even called for the Egyptian King to be benched and for Liverpool to change into a diamond formation with four central midfielders rather than using wingers.

Indeed, this would make sense to try and fit both Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike into Arne Slot’s team together, but due to the quality that Salah has in his locker, it feels nigh-on impossible for the Reds to bench the Egyptian.

Slot could try and use him in a different role to get the best out of him, but at the moment, all they’ll want is for the attacker to come back with some confidence so he can help the club fire their way back up the Premier League table.

Here’s hoping that, now that Egypt have qualified for the World Cup, Salah’s full attention will be on Liverpool and retaining the title and perhaps advancing deep into the Champions League.
