Darren Bent says Liverpool still have one player who is ‘undroppable’ despite three consecutive losses

It’s no secret that Liverpool have found it hard over the last couple of weeks.

Before their 2-1 defeat against Crystal Palace on 27 September, things were going swimmingly for Arne Slot’s men.

They’d won all five of their opening Premier League games and even managed to beat Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

However, since their defeat to the Eagles, things just haven’t clicked with Liverpool, now dropping to second in the Premier League table.

The performances of the Reds’ players are the main things to blame; however, Darren Bent believes that the Anfield outfit still have a player who’s undroppable among their ranks, and it isn’t Alisson.

Darren Bent thinks that Mohamed Salah is still undroppable for Liverpool

Mohamed Salah has been Liverpool’s best player for many years now.

The Egyptian King has often carried the Anfield outfit to trophies, with his 57 goal contributions being the main reason why Liverpool won the Premier League title last season.

This term, the attacker has been miles off the pace as he’s only managed to contribute to six goals across all competitions.

However, despite his lack of form, Bent, while live on talkSPORT, shared that he still thinks Salah is undroppable for Liverpool.

“Last question, then we take calls. Is Mohamed Salah droppable?” Bent was asked.

“No, not yet. You can’t drop him yet,” Bent said.

“Is he undroppable then?” Bent was asked.

“He’s undroppable. Yeah, right now he is,” Bent said.

Liverpool need to try Mohamed Salah in a more central position

Last season, Liverpool were happy to leave a gap behind Salah for opposing players to run into due to the numbers he was putting out.

This term, however, things haven’t quite worked out like that with Hugo Ekitike being the Reds’ main source of goals.

The gap behind Salah is now becoming more of a hindrance than a help due to the attacking nature of Jeremie Frimpong and Conor Bradley.

This means that the teams Liverpool are facing are using that area of the pitch to their advantage, which allows them to get through on goal with ease.

So, with this in mind, it makes sense for Slot to change Liverpool’s formation slightly and use Salah in a more central role alongside Alexander Isak or Ekitike.

Because, to be honest, Salah rarely tracks back anyway, so the added defensive help a winger is supposed to bring to a team doesn’t really exist.

At the moment, it’s anyone’s guess what could happen, but if Liverpool don’t figure out a way to get the Egypt international back to his best soon, they could end up in a whole world of trouble.
