Danny Murphy completely disagrees with what some people have said about Mohamed Salah at Liverpool

Mohamed Salah hasn’t been his usual self for Liverpool this season.

The attacker has been miles off his usual standards with players such as Hugo Ekitike even outperforming him this season.

Although Arne Slot has kept the winger in the role he played last season, the Egyptian King’s output has been far worse this term, which means the hit they’re taking defensively isn’t reaping the same rewards.

And, since Liverpool’s last few strikers, such as Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, and Roberto Firmino, have all been facilitators rather than out-and-out goal scorers, Salah’s role with Alexander Isak and Ekitike now among their ranks is having to change.

There have been calls for Slot to drop Salah due to his poor form, but Danny Murphy thinks that would be a silly thing for Liverpool to do.

Danny Murphy doesn’t think Mohamed Salah looks ‘lost’ at Liverpool

As well as calls to drop him, some fans have said that they think players such as Federico Chiesa would do a better job than Salah at the moment.

In fact, some have even suggested changing to a diamond formation to allow Isak and Ekitike to play up front together and completely freeze Salah out of the starting XI.

On paper, these moves feel like they’d make sense, but in reality, it’s only a matter of time before Salah comes good.

And, while speaking live on talkSPORT, Murphy shares these same thoughts with the former Liverpool man, even saying Salah looked “sharp.”

“I don’t think he looks lost. I think he’s getting in great positions. His end product isn’t as good as it has been,” he said.

“He’s set the bar ridiculously high. His finishing hasn’t been anywhere near to his levels.

“He’s shooting when he should pass, passing when he should shoot, mis-hitting shots or ballooning them over when we’ve seen him score so many times in those positions. So, his end product is down.

“Physically, he’s getting in the same positions. He looks sharp. He looks fit. I wouldn’t worry about that.

“So I don’t think he looks lost in terms of what they’re doing when they’ve got the ball. It’s just his decision-making, and end product isn’t what we’re used to seeing.”

Mohamed Salah needs to bring his form for Egypt back with him to Liverpool

At the moment, the international break is upon us, which means the pressure on the shoulders of Liverpool’s players has been taken away.

The Anfield outfit have now lost three games on the bounce, with Slot’s men seeming like they have no vision whatsoever.

This is a massive and sudden change from last season, when the Reds were arguably one of the most feared teams in the world.

And, you’d think that, with the arrival of Isak and Florian Wirtz, teams would be even more fearful of the club, but, in actual fact, that’s been far from the case.

Salah managed to bag two goals for Egypt against Djibouti on Wednesday evening, which sent them to the 2026 World Cup.

If Salah can bring this level of performance back with him to L4, things would be going much smoother for Liverpool with little to no questions being asked.

Here’s hoping that his blip will finally be over upon his return.
