Mohamed Salah has already said why it isn’t working with him and Alexander Isak at Liverpool

Mohamed Salah hasn’t been his usual self for Liverpool this season.

Usually, the winger is the Reds’ most important player and is one of the main reasons why they’re so dominant.

However, even though he may have contributed to six goals across all competitions, he’s not been anywhere near as productive as he usually is.

In most games this term, the attacker has found himself played out of the game, and the chances he has been given have mostly been squandered.

This has come as a surprise to most people, especially after both Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz were brought in to try and take some pressure off the Egyptian King’s shoulders.

Instead, things have just gotten worse, and at the moment, it’s unclear whether Liverpool will be able to retain their Premier League title.

In the past, Salah has spoken about his favourite players he’s played with, and some quotes have re-emerged, which may explain why things haven’t quite gone to plan at Anfield this season.

Roberto Firmino was Mohamed Salah’s favourite striker he’s ever played with

There was a stage during Jurgen Klopp’s era where the front three of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, and Salah became synonymous with the club.

Firmino was a master facilitator who enabled Mane and Salah to push forward and more or less play as strikers.

He also chipped in with a few goals himself, but more often than not, he ended up assisting one of the two.

The seasons when the trio were leading Liverpool’s attack were arguably some of the best of Salah’s career, but since Isak’s playing style is the complete opposite of this, it may explain why the duo haven’t clicked yet.

In fact, Salah, while speaking to fans during a Q&A last year, said in quotes relayed by The Metro, that Firmino was the player he enjoyed playing with the most.

“Who do I most like to play with? It was Firmino. Now I feel like I generally like playing with Nunez,” he said.

“A lot of people don’t like him, but I like playing with him. I see Bahaa (the man who asked the question) keeps shaking his head, not liking [Nunez].

“Nah, I like playing with him in general. [Nunez is] a player with different skills. Not a lot of people understand his ball.”

Liverpool need to figure out a way to get Mohamed Salah and Alexander Isak working well with one another

If Liverpool want to win anything this season, things need to turn around as soon as possible.

Although they may be second in the Premier League table at the moment, if they continue putting in performances like their last three games, it would be a surprise to see them finish in the top four.

Slot’s men are completely disorganised, and it feels like they have no vision whatsoever.

Whether it’s in defence or attack, neither have been good, with the only way to solve that being to figure out a way to get Salah and Isak to work with one another.

At the moment, it’s anyone’s guess what could happen, but if Slot can’t get his team firing upon their return from the October international break, their season could be as good as over within a month.
