Florian Wirtz hasn’t had the easiest start to life since joining Liverpool.

The German has constantly been in the spotlight due to the sheer amount of money that the Reds spent on acquiring his services.

Most expected the 22-year-old to be exactly what Liverpool were looking for once Trent Alexander-Arnold left Anfield, but at the moment, it feels like he can’t do all that much.

Of course, this could just be a blip as we’re still early into the season but, the fact that none of his moves or passes have come to anything yet is a cause for concern.

Fans, pundits, and journalists have all begun to question whether Wirtz was worth Liverpool spending £100million on, with some even saying their midfield was better last season when he wasn’t around.

In fact, Wirtz’s former club, Bayer Leverkusen, have now even sent a message of support to the young German after his below-par start.

Bayer Leverkusen show that Florian Wirtz will forever be their star boy

Last season, Bayer Leverkusen were one of the Bundesliga’s best teams.

In fact, the season before, they even managed to beat Bayern to the title with Xabi Alonso’s men storming to victory.

A lot of their results over the last couple of years have come thanks to the performances of Wirtz, with the attacking midfielder contributing to over 30 goals across all competitions just last season.

And now, after posting a compilation of the midfielder’s best moments to their TikTok account, Leverkusen have even sent a message of support via their Instagram account.

The club simply commented, “Forever #Fusballgott @flowirtz.”

Florian Wirtz needs to get to his best for Liverpool soon

Although Liverpool may be sitting at the top of the Premier League table at the moment, that’s only because of the several late goals they scored in their opening games.

Of course, the main thing that matters is the result, and although Liverpool got them, their last two outings against Crystal Palace and Galatasaray have been terrible.

And, if things don’t improve soon, they could be out of the title race before things have even kicked off.

Thanks to Liverpool’s defeat against the Eagles, Arsenal are now just two points behind them in the Premier League, which is a cause for concern.

With this in mind, it’s clear that, unless Wirtz gets to his best and others such as Mohamed Salah and Alexander Isak follow suit, things could go from bad to worse at Anfield in double-quick time.
