Florian Wirtz’s form since joining Liverpool has been far from ideal.

The attacking midfielder cost the Reds an initial £100million to bring to Anfield, but at the moment, he’s failing to live up to that price tag.

Of course, it’s still early days, and things can change in an instant, but it still feels like he should be playing better than he is.

Although Wirtz has been rather underwhelming this season, that hasn’t stopped Rudi Voller from predicting that something will happen to the young German this season.

Rudi Voller thinks Florian Wirtz’s Liverpool ‘breakthrough’ will be coming soon

Although Wirtz hasn’t performed well, that doesn’t mean he hasn’t been played by Arne Slot.

The Dutchman has trusted him to start in almost every game, with the 22-year-old being used in attacking midfield as well as on the left wing.

He did manage to get himself an assist during his Community Shield debut, but since then, all the moves he’s made haven’t come to anything.

However, while speaking to Bild, German World Cup winner Rudi Voller shared his thoughts on Wirtz and what he expects to happen this season.

“Florian is playing in a new league and a new club. These are normal adjustment problems,” he said.

“Almost every professional has them. I have no doubt that with his running and playing ability, he will make the breakthrough.”

Liverpool must ensure that they get back to winning ways soon

If Liverpool end the 2025-26 season without a trophy of some description, it’ll be a massive failure.

At the moment, the Anfield outfit are sitting on top of the Premier League table, but after their last couple of games against Crystal Palace and Galatasaray, it’s unclear whether things will stay that way or not.

The performances they put in against the aforementioned duo were far from their best, with the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai and Wirtz failing to play well at all.

If the Reds don’t get back to winning ways, it feels like things could take a turn for the worse sooner than many think.

Of course, it’s still early days and all of Liverpool’s new players still need time to gel, but if things don’t begin working out soon, it could end their hopes of the Premier League or Champions League before things have even started.
