Forget Ibrahima Konate, 78-touch disaster must be axed by Arne Slot after what happened v Galatasaray

Liverpool have a lot of making up to do after their last two performances.

The reigning Premier League champions have performed well below their usual standards this season, with their last-minute winners often masking their poor outings.

Some of Arne Slot’s men have played well, but the vast majority have been miles off the pace.

This is far from ideal, especially since the Reds were seen as the favourites to win both the Premier League and Champions League this season.

Although nobody except Alisson had a good game on Tuesday, there were one or two members of Liverpool’s first-team squad who were terrible.

Dominik Szoboszlai needs to be axed by Arne Slot in their game against Chelsea

Dominik Szoboszlai has arguably been one of Liverpool’s best players this term.

However, during his last couple of games, especially against Galatasaray, he was one of their worst players on the pitch.

Indeed, he was used at right-back, which isn’t his natural position, but in other games this term, he’s seemed to thrive in that role.

Now, however, things have taken a turn for the worse, and it’s going to be hard for Slot to avoid axing him from his starting XI on Saturday.

Although Chelsea haven’t been in the best form, the Dutchman can’t afford to start players who aren’t performing to the levels expected of them, which is why the Hungarian must be axed.

A selection of Dominik Szoboszlai’s statistics from Liverpool’s defeat v Galatasaray

Liverpool were a shadow of themselves when facing the Turkish Super Lig team on Tuesday.

Most fans and pundits expected the Anfield outfit to walk all over them, but, instead, they were embarrassed and were beaten 1-0.

Szoboszlai wasn’t solely to blame for Liverpool’s defeat, of course, but, as per Sofascore, it was clear that he was one of the main reasons.

In the 90 minutes that Szoboszlai was on the pitch, he only managed to have 78 touches of the ball.

Defensively, he was also rather worrying as he only managed to make one clearance, two tackles, and he was even the cause of Galatasaray’s penalty that sent them 1-0 up.

He was also dribbled past once and only won 33 per cent of the ground duels he attempted.

Aerially, he was terrible as he failed to win any of the aerial duels he attempted, and he also lost possession 13 times.

These statistics alone outline why there should be no place for the Hungarian in Slot’s team this weekend.

That is, despite the good run of form he was in before last week.
