Arne Slot tried something different against Galatasaray but it still was not enough.
The Reds lost their first game of the season to Crystal Palace at the weekend, meaning a big performance was needed in the Champions League to put things right.
However, this was far from the case and after a very lacklustre outing away from home, they have now lost back-to-back matches.
Slot tried to switch things up, with Jeremie Frimpong playing at right wing being one of the changes, although it backfired massively.
The Dutchman struggled to get into the game and his performance means his manager might not try it again, although he defended himself afterwards and was keen to explain his reasoning behind trying it.

Arne Slot explains Jeremie Frimpong decision
Due to the amount of games Liverpool will play this season and how many they have had in September alone, many fans knew that changes would be made heading into this clash.
But when the teamsheet was announced, many were left shocked to see Mohamed Salah starting on the bench, with this happening once in a blue moon.
To make things even stranger, it was Frimpong who got the nod to start there instead, something that backfired massively, although the reasoning behind doing it made a whole lot of sense.
“Jeremie played a lot of times as right winger for Leverkusen, he played there for us in pre-season,” Slot said in his post-match press conference as per Redmen TV 2.
“He’s one of the players who can replace Mo in that position. I don’t see many others who can play in that position which is their favourite to them, it’s one of his favourite positions, he plays there for the national team always.
“Normally, normally, normally they play with the left winger inverted and the full-back really high, then the left winger goes inverted, he plays in the midfield, so Dom is in the midfield and Jeremie plays as some kind of a wing-back.

“But they did it opposite today, which happens more to us that they change something. But they both can play really well in this position, also Conor missed out quite a lot in pre-season, so he can’t play every game, so you decide which game is best for which player.
“Mo has played a lot of minutes already, so we decided to do it today like this and I think in the first-half I was quite happy with the way we played actually.”
Liverpool will struggle when Mohamed Salah is at AFCON
Every two years, Liverpool fans worry about how they will cope when Salah goes off to AFCON in the winter, and this season is no different.
He could miss up to six games, and although he has not exactly been firing on all cylinders this season, he is by far the best option they have.
Frimpong was tipped to take over in his absence, but after his performance against Galatasaray, Slot may now change his mind.
Federico Chiesa seems like the obvious option to replace him, but with his injury record, it will be very hard to rely on him.
Either way, the Reds’ title defence could completely derail while their Egyptian king is away, but between now and then, Slot needs to find a solution.
