Liverpool may be about to make their most important move of the season amid fresh update from Anfield

Liverpool have dominated headlines since the summer transfer window first opened at the start of June.

The Reds were one of the Premier League’s most active teams in the transfer market, with the club spending over £400million on new players.

Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz were the most expensive transfers that the Anfield outfit made, with the former of the two finally getting his first goal of his Liverpool career against Southampton on Tuesday.

Although their attack has had a massive overhaul, Arne Slot has kept his midfield more or less the same, aside from the addition of Wirtz, of course.

The number 10 is the only midfield addition that has been made, which means that Ryan Gravenberch is set to be Liverpool’s regular number six throughout the season.

And, with the way he’s been performing recently, it’s not a surprise to see that Liverpool want to extend his stay at Anfield.

It goes without saying that Gravenberch has been one of Liverpool’s best players this season.

The Dutchman is going to be a first-team regular for Slot again, which he more than deserves to be.

However, if he continues to put in top-class performances, other teams are obviously going to start thinking about making a potential move for the Dutchman.

He’s still only 23 years old, and he could easily develop into an even better player than he already is.

Of course, these are just reports at the moment, but on the face of things, especially with what happened with Trent Alexander-Arnold last season, extending Gravenberch’s stay makes plenty of sense.

One of the main reasons Liverpool’s defensive line is so strong is due to the amount of work that the Dutchman puts in.

The midfielder is now seen as one of the best number sixes in the world, and, by the end of the season, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him being dubbed the best by most fans and pundits.

That is, especially if his form continues as it has started.

Indeed, Liverpool do have Wataru Endo as a back-up if needed, but as was made very clear against Southampton, the Japan international is miles off the level required for a title-chasing team.

At the moment, it’s anyone’s guess what could end up happening with Gravenberch, but one thing is for sure: they would be nowhere near as good if Slot didn’t unearth his potential last term.
