Liverpool have a massive season ahead of them after the amount of money that they spent throughout the summer transfer window.
At the moment, the Reds are seen as the most likely team to come away with the Premier League title, with Arne Slot’s men already having nine points to their name.
Of course, there were some points in their three opening games which were a little bit dodgy, but in the end, the Reds came out on top.
However, it’s not only their on-pitch performance that fans are worrying about; Ibrahima Konate’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season and with no agreement in place for an extension just yet, fans are beginning to worry.
Real Madrid have long been linked with a move for the Frenchman, with history feeling like it’s repeating itself after what happened with Trent Alexander-Arnold this summer.

However, there is one thing that Michael Edwards has done in the past that may ease the minds of some fans.
Michael Edwards could end up agreeing to an extension with Ibrahima Konate towards the end of the season
Although things aren’t really moving along with Konate’s future at the moment, the fact that both Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk extended their stays last season shows that agreements can be reached.
And, in the end, everything worked out with the Reds managing to extend the stays of two of their most important players, with Alexander-Arnold being the exception, of course.
And, although no progress is visibly being made with Konate, the amount of behind-the-scenes work that will be ongoing is unfathomable.
So, even though the prospect of losing one of the Premier League’s best centre-backs for nothing is very real, at the moment, fans shouldn’t be panicking too much.
Marc Guehi could be the perfect replacement for Ibrahima Konate if he does end up leaving
Of course, in an ideal world, Slot would want to keep Konate and have him lead the defensive line once Van Dijk ends up exiting.
However, with things such as signing-on bonuses and massive wage hikes taken into account, there’s no real way to know whether Konate will stay at Anfield or not.
If the Frenchman does choose to leave, then Slot already has a perfect replacement lined up in Marc Guehi.
The Englishman was close to joining Liverpool on deadline day until Crystal Palace pulled out of the deal.
However, since his contract is also set to expire at the end of the season, should Liverpool lose Konate, they could get a replacement almost instantly.

Guehi would be an exceptional addition to Slot’s first-team squad, and with a year of Van Dijk being his partner, he’d only get better.
At the moment, it’s anyone’s guess what could happen, but until an agreement is reached between Konate and a club, there’s no need for fans to worry just yet.
