Liverpool have had a massive clear-out of their players this summer.
The Reds may have won the Premier League last season, but it was clear that a fair few areas of their first-team squad needed upgrading.
Players such as Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong have been brought in and have fitted straight into Arne Slot’s starting XI.
And, although Frimpong is now ruled out due to injury, it’s clear that these additions have helped the Reds in their first few competitive games of the season.

However, without that depth among their squad, there’s hardly any chance that Liverpool will be able to compete for the Premier League title, never mind the Champions League.
Liverpool have received a bid from AC Milan for Joe Gomez
Over the last couple of days, Joe Gomez’s Liverpool future has been brought into question.
Both AC Milan and Tottenham have been linked with a move for the centre-back, and even though Spurs cooled their interest in the Englishman, AC Milan have seemingly stepped theirs up.
That is, according to a report from Fabrizio Romano via his personal X account, who shared that an official bid has been made by the European giants.
“AC Milan send official bid to Liverpool for Joe Gomez, negotiations underway,” he wrote.
“Understand it’s permanent transfer proposal with clubs discussing terms.
Joe Gomez will be allowed to leave if Marc Guehi joins Liverpool.”
Liverpool cannot sell Joe Gomez this summer
With the massive number of players that Liverpool have already sold this summer, you’d expect them to want to keep hold of some of their more experienced players.
Instead, it seems like the Reds are set to entertain bids for Gomez if Marc Guehi ends up joining the club.
However, even though Guehi would be a solid replacement for the Englishman at centre-back, the fact that Gomez can be used in both full-back positions cannot be forgotten about.

Although the former Charlton man is often injured himself, the cover he can provide Liverpool across the back four is second to none, and to be honest, it makes him a vital player among Slot’s ranks, with the Dutchman himself even dubbing him “outstanding.”
If Liverpool want to be as dominant as they were last season, they must keep hold of as many players as possible and ensure they’re not actually weakening themselves, much like they would be if they sold Gomez.
