Liverpool still have a couple of days left in the summer transfer window to try and improve their ranks.
Even though the Reds have already spent a hefty chunk of change on adding to their first-team squad, it’s clear that there are still a couple of areas within their ranks that could do with improvement.
At the moment, Arne Slot is keeping his cards close to his chest, but with Liverpool on the verge of agreeing a move for Marc Guehi, there is clearly plenty of wriggle room in the budget for moves to be made.

And, with the lingering feeling that Alexander Isak is going to make the switch to Anfield, it’s evident that the last couple of days of the window will be important to how Liverpool’s season ends up panning out.
Ibrahima Konate’s uncertain future is ‘driving’ Liverpool to make a move for Marc Guehi
Another problem that Slot is taking head on this summer is the fact that Ibrahima Konate still hasn’t extended his stay.
The Frenchman has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Anfield, and unless an agreement is reached to extend his stay, Liverpool could end up losing him for nothing.
And, as per a report from The Daily Mirror, Konate’s uncertain future is what is ‘driving’ Liverpool to make a move for the Englishman.
The Reds fear that the centre-backs ‘head has been turned’ by the interest shown by Real Madrid, much like Trent Alexander-Arnold’s was at the end of last season.
The ‘belief’ at Liverpool is that Konate wants to ‘follow’ the Englishman to the Bernabeu at the end of the 2025-26 campaign.
Liverpool need to find out what Ibrahima Konate is doing soon
Even though it feels likely that Konate will be exiting Anfield upon the expiry of his contract, he could also just end up staying.
The Frenchman has developed into an immense centre-back since arriving at Liverpool, and, due to the amount of time he’s spent playing alongside Virgil van Dijk, the duo have formed an incredible partnership.
Indeed, his form since the start of the 2025-26 Premier League season has been far from ideal, but once his contract situation is sorted, he’s likely to get back to his best.
Of course, Guehi is also an exceptional centre-back and, if he does choose to join Liverpool, he’s not going to want to sit around on the bench and not play.

So, since there are just a couple of days left in the transfer window with no answers being clear as of yet, the sooner things are sorted, the more likely Liverpool are to retain their Premier League title.
Because, at the end of the day, that is more than likely to be one of their main goals this term.
