Danny Murphy outlines a problem that Liverpool could face if they sign Alexander Isak

Alexander Isak’s potential move to Liverpool has dominated the transfer headlines over the last few days.

That is, despite Liverpool already signing Hugo Ekitike to be their Darwin Nunez replacement this summer.

Indeed, another new addition to Arne Slot’s attacking line is likely needed before the deadline hits, but with Liverpool’s interest in Isak more prominent than ever, it feels like he’s the only player the Reds have eyes for.

That is, even though both Ekitike and Isak play their best football when used as a number nine.

Danny Murphy thinks Liverpool could struggle to integrate Alexander Isak alongside all their other additions

One of the main questions being asked about Liverpool’s pursuit of Isak is how Slot is going to fit all of his players into his starting XI.

As mentioned, Ekitike is naturally a striker, but if the Anfield outfit fork out over £120million to sign Newcastle’s talisman, they can hardly leave him on the bench.

This is a worry shared by former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy, who, while live on talkSPORT, shared his thoughts on the integration of Isak being a major concern.

“I think he [Isak] gives them a hell of a chance [of winning the Premier League title, you can never say never” Murphy said.

“The only thing when you bring new players to a big football club, irrelevant of the talent is how quickly they settle.

“How quickly, they forge partnerships, relationships, how they deal with the pressure of playing for a club that’s expected to win every game every week.

“You can’t guarantee that when you sign five or six that they’re all going to do that.”

Arne Slot needs his Liverpool squad to gel instantly

Seeing as though a massive overhaul has already taken place at Liverpool, Slot needs the entirety of his squad to start gelling as soon as possible.

They may have lost their first game of the season as they were defeated by Crystal Palace in the Community Shield, but at the start of the game, there were some glimpses of top-quality football.

Both Jeremie Frimpong and Ekitike managed to score on their debut, with the former of the two arguably being the Reds’ best player.

If Slot can guide his team to play like that each week, then they’ll have no problems whatsoever.

However, if playstyles clash and the squad doesn’t manage to gel, the Dutchman could find himself in a whole world of trouble.
