There are still a few weeks left in the transfer window for Liverpool to make some moves and bolster their ranks even further.
The Reds have already spent a hefty chunk of change on improving their first-team squad, but with the way things seem to be headed, they’re not going to stop there.
Indeed, the Reds have spent over £200million on new arrivals thus far, such as Florian Wirtz, but after their Community Shield defeat to Crystal Palace on Sunday, it’s clear that improvement is still needed.

And, now that we’re getting into the latter end of the transfer window, transfers need to get into place as soon as possible for the Reds to land the players they want.
Arne Slot’s ‘clear priority’ is the signing of Marc Guehi
One of the main areas of weakness within Arne Slot’s squad at the moment are his centre-backs.
Indeed, at the moment, the Reds have both Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate in their starting XI, but regarding depth, there’s little to none.
Joe Gomez is the third-choice centre-back at the moment, but when his injury history is taken into account, he’s hardly reliable.
Which is why it doesn’t come as a surprise to see that, according to Sky Germany journalist, Florian Plettenberg, Slot’s ‘clear priority’ this summer is the signing of Marc Guehi.
“Been told again that Liverpool’s clear priority is Marc Guehi. Negotiations with Crystal Palace are ongoing, as the 25 y/o centre-back wants to join,” he wrote via his personal X account.
“Super-talented 18 y/o centre-back Giovanni Leoni could also join Liverpool already in this transfer window, with advanced talks taking place behind the scenes, as previously revealed.
“Both deals are on.”
Liverpool must get a new centre-back over the line as soon as possible
As mentioned, the weakest area in Liverpool’s team at the moment is their centre-backs.
Indeed, the signing of Alexander Isak would be revolutionary for the Anfield outfit, but at the moment, it’s clear that a new centre-back is more needed.
Hugo Ekitike may have only had one strong season throughout his career thus far, but after his performance in the Community Shield, it’s clear that the Reds have signed a gem.

Guehi would likely come in as the third-choice centre-back to start with, but as the future of Konate still needs to be decided, there could be a very simple pathway into the Reds’ first team for him.
Of course, only time will tell what the future has in store, but with the amount of Premier League experience the Englishman already has, a move for the Crystal Palace captain feels like a no-brainer.
