Fabrizio Romano drops fresh update on Bradley Barcola to Liverpool as contract talks mooted

Liverpool could still do with another couple of signings to bolster their ranks this summer.

Indeed, their starting XI is now more than capable of winning the Premier League, but with the likes of Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz now no longer at the club, their depth isn’t the best.

Players such as Hugo Ekitike and Milos Kerkez have been brought in to improve Arne Slot’s ranks, but at the moment, it still feels like a couple of new faces are needed.

Many players, such as Bradley Barcola and Alexander Isak, have been linked with an Anfield switch this summer, with the Reds still having a hefty chunk of change to spend on improving their first-team squad.

And now, an update has been shared on Liverpool’s pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain ace, Bradley Barcola.

Paris Saint-Germain to offer Bradley Barcola a ‘huge’ new contract

Barcola has been distantly linked to Liverpool for some time now.

The Frenchman has plenty of versatility and was arguably one of Luis Enrique’s most important players last season with Barcola, even being described as a “top” player by the Spaniard.

And, as per a new report from Fabrizio Romano via GiveMeSport, the Parisiens now want Barcola to stay ‘at all costs.’

The Frenchman is seen as a ‘key’ player to PSG, with the Ligue 1 giants preparing to offer a ‘huge’ new contract to the attacker.

Romano adds that the Ligue 1 outfit ‘expect him to stay’, which rules out a move to Liverpool for the attacker this summer.

Liverpool still need to sign a new attacker this summer

Although Liverpool’s centre-back options are down to their bare bones, a new attacker is another essential bit of recruitment that Slot needs to make.

As mentioned, the Reds have sold Nunez and Diaz this summer, and with Diogo Jota’s sad passing, there are only three wingers left at the club.

Indeed, players such as Ben Doak and Harvey Elliott are still around, but with all the rumours surrounding their futures, it feels likely that they could be looking for an exit.

Although a move for Barcola now seems out of the question, that shouldn’t stop the Reds from looking for an attacker.

Alexander Isak is still an option that’s on the table, with David Ornstein reporting that he’s now refusing to play for Newcastle ever again.

However, since his fee would likely be extortionate, that’s another move that might not end up working out.

At the moment, it’s anyone’s guess what could happen between now and the transfer window, but for now, it’s clear that the Anfield outfit still need one or two players to join them before deadline day strikes.
