Two things need to happen for Bradley Barcola to join Liverpool from PSG and they are both possible

Liverpool are ready to sink big funds into the signing of another headline attacker this summer.

The Reds have already committed an initial £69m to buying Hugo Ekitike, and at least £100m on securing Florian Wirtz.

But with Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez both leaving, Liverpool are keen to bolster their forward ranks even further.

Alexander Isak remains Liverpool’s top target, and will likely cost at least £130m if Newcastle are to part with him.

After the Magpies missed out on a top-level replacement in Benjamin Sesko, however, the waters have been muddied a little in relation to Isak being allowed to leave.

As a result, reports have started to surface that Liverpool could switch their attention to flying PSG winger Bradley Barcola.

Liverpool must pay at least £87m for Bradley Barcola

Liverpool have been linked with Barcola before. The Reds were said to be in the mix before the Frenchman joined PSG from Lyon in 2023.

Since then, Barcola has hit his straps. After a slow start, he came to life last year. 21 goals and 20 assists in 64 matches is a brilliant return.

However, the 22-year-old fell out of the team a little towards the end of the season, and did not start in either the Champions League or Club World Cup finals.

And according to French outlet RMC Sport, it is ‘not impossible’ that Barcola could leave PSG this summer.

Although the door is seemingly slightly open, though, it is not said to be currently in the plans of the Ligue 1 champions to let him leave.

Nevertheless, if Barcola indicates that he wants to go, and a buyer is willing to pay at least £87m, then PSG would reportedly be open to the possibility.

Liverpool are claimed to be interested, and would reportedly have little problem paying the requested transfer fee.

Could Barcola ask to leave?

Whether Liverpool are willing to pay £87m for Barcola is likely to be totally dependent on the Isak saga.

If they sign the Swede, there is little to no chance of them spending another massive sum on a left winger.

But in the event that Isak proves ungettable, Liverpool badly do need another forward option.

In that scenario, the big question would seemingly be of whether Barcola wants to leave PSG. According to French outlet L’Equipe, Liverpool would need to be ‘very convincing’ to make this happen.

Consequently, although this is a very fun link and will get supporters excited, we would be surprised to see anything concrete come of it this summer.
