Arsenal have potentially handed Liverpool a Rodrygo transfer boost as Spanish press deliver big new claim

Liverpool have already won the summer transfer window, and it isn’t even close to being over yet.

The Reds have spent close to £200million on improving their first-team squad, and with their move for Hugo Ekitike now advancing, the Reds are going to be a force to be reckoned with next season.

Players such as Milos Kerkez and Florian Wirtz are likely to fit straight into Arne Slot’s starting XI, with the duo instantly improving the quality of the team.

And, even though the arrival of the Frenchman would take Liverpool’s spending closer to the £300million mark, it doesn’t feel like they’re stopping there.

Rodrygo’s move to Arsenal is now ‘practically impossible’

Real Madrid’s Rodrygo has been one of the most talked-about players in the footballing world over the last couple of days.

Although the Brazilian was an important cog in Carlo Ancelotti’s team last term, Xabi Alonso failed to start him for five consecutive games at the Club World Cup, resulting in questions being asked about his future.

Arsenal were the team seen as the most likely to sign him this summer, but now, according to Spanish journalist Anton Meana via El Larguero, the attacker’s move to the Emirates is now “practically impossible.”

“Today, Pablo Montano, the correspondent for SER TV in the UK, reported from England that the Luis Diaz deal to Bayern Munich is well underway and that Liverpool could transfer Luis Diaz for a lot of money,” Meana said.

“And, at that time, they would enter the bidding for Rodrygo, seeing how the market is in England, but they’re paying €80million for several players, and it wouldn’t be surprising if a similar amount was paid for Rodrygo.

“Real Madrid wasn’t the player to be well-positioned and, if he’s ultimately going to leave, to have a good offer from Liverpool or Chelsea or a team that can afford to pay him.

“As we said during the week, the Arsenal deal is practically impossible.”

Why what’s happening to Rodrygo at the moment is causing ‘pain’ for Real Madrid

Rodrygo is only 24 years old and has plenty of potential left to fulfil with the attacker once being seen as the next big thing to come out of Brazil.

And, even though he contributed to 25 goals for Real Madrid last season, Meana shared that Los Blancos still see him as a player who ‘must’ leave the club, even if it does ‘pain’ them to admit it.

“Well, it’s a topic that isn’t discussed, that is kept quiet, that the club doesn’t say anything and that Rodrygo doesn’t say he’s looking for a team,” Meana said.

“But it’s a pain, it’s a pain because there’s only a month left until La Liga starts, and Rodrygo is a player who must leave the squad.”

Although Liverpool’s move for the attacker depends on whether Diaz leaves this summer, it feels like a no-brainer to sell the Colombian and then bring in Rodrygo as his replacement.

Of course, only time will tell whether this move actually comes to fruition, but on the face of things, it makes a lot of sense.
