Liverpool have been rather dominant in the transfer market this summer.
The Reds have been on the hunt for a new number nine to lead their attacking line since the start of the season, with Arne Slot not wanting to rely on only one player to deliver results.
Indeed, Liverpool’s first-choice signing was always Alexander Isak, but with Newcastle sticking to their guns and not selling him, the Reds have now turned towards Ekitike.

And now, it seems like they’ve made an official bid for the Frenchman.
Fabrizio Romano shares that Liverpool have made an official offer for Hugo Ekitike
Ekitike has been consistently linked with an Anfield switch over the last few weeks.
The Frenchman has been highly sought-after by many Premier League clubs, with Liverpool among those to have been there from the start.
And now, as per a fresh report from Fabrizio Romano, it seems like the Reds have made their first move.
“EXCL: Liverpool have submitted official bid to Eintracht for Hugo Ekitike,” he wrote via his personal X account.
“Eintracht already informed Liverpool that they want more, proposal rejected but it was initial contact as talks continue.
“Ekitike said yes Liverpool, no issues on personal terms. He wants Liverpool.”
Eintracht Frankfurt now want £77million for the transfer of Hugo Ekitike
Since rumours of Ekitike looking for an Anfield switch first emerged, Eintracht Frankfurt have been clear that their price tag for the Frenchman was £85million.
The striker had a rather impressive season last term where he managed to score over 20 goals for the first time in his career.
And now, as per a report from RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins, it seems like the Bundesliga outfit have dropped their demands slightly.
In his report, Hawkins outlines that although their terms may have dropped somewhat, a transfer will still be ‘costly.’
Last summer, Frankfurt only spent £14.2million on bringing the Frenchman in from Paris Saint-Germain, where he failed to live up to his potential.

Now however, they do not intend to ‘sell him off cheap’ with their demands now set at around €90million (£77million) for his services.
Of course, only time will tell what the future has in store, but one thing is for sure: it’s a very exciting time to be a Liverpool fan at the moment.
