Liverpool have been linked with several players already this summer, with Arne Slot looking to strengthen his ranks as much as possible.
Last season, the Anfield outfit were one of the most dominant teams in the top flight, but to stay competitive next term, additions will have to be made to improve their squad.
There’s no denying that the Reds’ main goals next year will be to retain the Premier League title as well as win the Champions League to prove their dominance once again.

However, with how competitive the market is this season, if Liverpool don’t move fast, they could start to lose out on more of their targets as the start of the 2025-26 campaign edges closer.
Chelsea make contact for Liverpool transfer target Malick Fofana
One player who many Liverpool fans won’t have heard of is Malick Fofana.
The Belgian is 20 years old and currently plies his trade for Ligue 1 side Lyon and was one of their best players last season.
And, even though Slot has shown an interest in Fofana, a new report from L’Equipe has shared that Chelsea have taken the first steps in the race and have made ‘initial contact’ with Lyon’s management.
The report also goes on to say that Chelsea see Fofana as one of the ‘world’s best talents’ but no offers have been formally ‘discussed’ between the two clubs as of yet.

Liverpool may not need a new winger this summer after all
One of the main reasons why Liverpool were being linked with so many wingers was due to Luis Diaz’s expected departure.
For the last few months, the Colombia international has been linked with a move to Barcelona, with Diaz even admitting that he and his agent had been talking to clubs regarding his future.
Now, however, Barcelona have seemingly shifted their priority to Nico Williams, which has left the Colombia international without a suitable move.
| Player | Games | Goals | Assists |
| Nico Williams | 45 | 11 | 7 |
| Luis Diaz | 50 | 17 | 8 |
Indeed, Saudi clubs have shown an interest in acquiring Diaz’s services, but one thing he’s made clear from the start is that he wishes to continue playing in the top leagues for as long as possible.
So, with this in mind, it feels unlikely that Diaz will be exiting Anfield any time soon, which then rules out Slot’s need for a new winger this summer.
