What has to happen at Liverpool for more signings to arrive after Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez

Liverpool are gearing themselves up for a busy summer transfer window with Jeremie Frimpong already added to Arne Slot’s ranks.

Over the last couple of seasons, Liverpool have done minimal business, but the 2025-26 window is already shaping up to be one of their busiest in recent memory.

Indeed, Trent Alexander-Arnold’s departure will sting for a while, but with Frimpong already coming in as his replacement, it’s evident that Slot isn’t waiting around this term.

Others, such as Milos Kerkez and Florian Wirtz, have also been linked with a Liverpool move, with both players edging closer to a switch.

However, even though each of the three aforementioned players would boost Liverpool’s ranks tenfold, there are still other areas within the squad that need bolstering.

Liverpool will have to sell to bring anyone else in after Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez

Even though the Anfield outfit have been successful over the last few seasons, compared to their title rivals, they’ve hardly spent anything.

Slot only brought in two players during the 2024-25 summer window, with Giorgi Mamardashvili getting sent straight back to Valencia, which left just Federico Chiesa to bolster Slot’s ranks.

As mentioned, however, this season is shaping up rather differently.

A new report from The Athletic has outlined that, should Liverpool want to bring anyone else in after Wirtz and Kerkez, moves would be ‘heavily influenced by outgoings.’

Liverpool could end up selling Jarell Quansah and Kostas Tsimikas this summer

Although most Liverpool fans will have been expecting sales this summer, it’s unclear who is most likely to be moved on.

Jarell Quansah’s Liverpool future has had its fair share of questions raised over the last season or so, with Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen both interested in acquiring his services.

The centre-back is still young, of course, so he has plenty of potential to live up to, but when called upon thus far, he’s been reliable.

Kostas Tsimikas is another name who has cropped up regarding Liverpool outgoings this season, with the left-back’s place in the team likely to be taken by the arrival of Kerkez.

The self-proclaimed Greek Scouser has featured a fair number of times for Slot this season, but with interest being shown in Tsimikas from the likes of Juventus and Atletico Madrid, it’s hard to see him staying at Anfield.

Plenty of others have also been mentioned, but until anything is officially announced, it’s anyone’s guess what could happen.
