Liverpool have already been busy in the transfer window, even though it hasn’t fully opened.
Jeremie Frimpong was caught flying into Merseyside on Tuesday evening in order to finalise his transfer from Bayer Leverkusen, with a deal for Milos Kerkez also edging closer.
Even though many players have been linked with a move to the Anfield outfit, some, such as Rayan Cherki, have been ruled out due to interest from other teams, including Manchester City.

However, as the window is still in its infancy, there’s plenty of time for things to change with a somewhat new-look Liverpool squad expected to feature next term.
Fabrizio Romano shares that conversations are underway for Florian Wirtz’s Liverpool switch
As mentioned, Arne Slot has already been very busy in the transfer market with the Reds looking likely to spend a hefty chunk of change over the course of summer.
And, as per a new report from transfer oracle Fabrizio Romano, it seems that Liverpool already have some of their plans for the summer laid out.
“So Liverpool are working on the Milos Kerkez deal, and then for Florian Wirtz, agreement with the player done, and conversations underway with Bayer Leverkusen,” he said via his YouTube channel.
“After the first proposal, they are discussing the bonuses, they are discussing all the details of this deal, but for sure, they are working hard to get the Florian Wirtz deal done, and it won’t take too long.
“So that’s the message coming from those close to the deal. And my expectation remains for this deal to be completed for Florian Wirtz to Liverpool.”
Liverpool must get deals for Milos Kerkez and Florian Wirtz over the line
One of the main areas of weakness within Liverpool’s team this season was their left-back.
For the past few seasons, Andy Robertson has been on top of his game and has often put his rivals to shame when conversations about the Premier League’s best left-back have emerged.
Throughout the 2024-25 campaign, however, something hasn’t quite clicked for the Scotsman as he’s often been interchanged with Kostas Tsimikas, who has comfortably been his back-up for the past couple of campaigns.
However, after Kerkez’s awe-inspiring season this term, it’s not a surprise to see him linked with a move to one of the big six, especially since a transfer fee of £50million is all that would be required to sign him.
| Player | Games | Goals | Assists |
| Milos Kerkez | 41 | 2 | 6 |
| Andy Robertson | 45 | 0 | 2 |
And, while Liverpool’s number 10 wasn’t a massive priority to improve, as Dominik Szoboszlai had an impressive season, a move for Florian Wirtz is also something that Liverpool can’t turn down.
The young German has also been in fine form for Bayer Leverkusen this term, with the attacking midfielder contributing to 31 goals across all competitions.
Indeed, the window is still young and plenty of things can still change, but if the Anfield outfit can get deals for both Wirtz and Kerkez over the line, it would be a massive statement of intent from Richard Hughes and co.
