Liverpool are interested in signing Florian Wirtz, with the Bayer Leverkusen star a man in demand this summer.
The Germany international has once again enjoyed a fantastic season with the former Bundesliga champions, with Wirtz’s form catching the eye of Liverpool as Arne Slot looks to bring in a world-class attacking midfielder in the transfer window.
With Bayern Munich worried Liverpool could sign Wirtz right from under their noses, the Reds’ interest in the 22-year-old is beginning to build, with many suggesting that the Anfield side are the new favourites for the Leverkusen maestro.
And journalist David Ornstein has now revealed what insiders are now telling him about Wirtz potentially joining Liverpool.

Liverpool ‘very interested’ in Florian Wirtz but no decision made yet
Writing for the Athletic, the journalist shared that Liverpool are ‘very interested’ in signing Wirtz from Leverkusen, but insiders have said the attacking midfielder is yet to make a decision about his future this summer.
As Ornstein writes, people with knowledge of the situation are split on what Wirtz could do in the transfer window, with some officials thinking that Bayern remain the favourites to sign the youngster, whilst others believe Liverpool have a strong chance.
With Manchester City out of the race to sign Wirtz, though, Liverpool’s chances of landing the 22-year-old attacking midfielder are as great as they have ever been, with the Bundesliga star seemingly open to the idea of moving to the Premier League.
And whilst no decision has been made yet about Wirtz, Liverpool’s strong interest in the youngster is an encouraging sign for the Reds, who this summer could now pull off one of the biggest transfers of the window in the German international.
Liverpool look like current favourites to sign Florian Wirtz
With a centre-forward the main priority for Liverpool this summer, few would have expected Wirtz to be as big of a target for the Reds as the Leverkusen star is now becoming, with interest only growing by the day.
However, after this latest update from Ornstein, there’s a good chance that Liverpool are now leading the march to sign Wirtz, with the Rhine-born maestro seemingly viewed as a marquee addition for the Premier League champions.
Indeed, Liverpool landing Wirtz would be one of the club’s biggest transfers in years, and the German could be exceptional for the Anfield side under Slot, who has proved himself to be a master developer of talent on Merseyside this season.
