Liverpool’s 2024/25 season has not even finished yet, but early signs suggest that this summer could be one for the ages.

Jeremie Frimpong is set to become Liverpool’s first signing of the transfer window, with the Reds activating the right-back’s £30m release clause having flourished at Bayer Leverkusen under former Anfield star Xabi Alonso.

Liverpool are not stopping there, though, with Arne Slot’s side also working on landing Milos Kerkez, with the AFC Bournemouth defender identified as the long-term successor for Andy Robertson in the left-back position.

And Liverpool now appear to have made another move in the transfer market that is leaving European giants Bayern Munich very worried.

Bayern Munich ‘fear’ Liverpool will soon sign Florian Wirtz

According to Kicker, the Bundesliga champions ‘fear’ they will lose out on Florian Wirtz to Liverpool, with the Reds making big strides in recent days to sign the Leverkusen superstar, who looks set for a big move this summer.

Liverpool are seeking approval from FSG to sign Wirtz as the Germany international has emerged as the Reds’ ideal option for the no. 10 position, with a world-class player being targeted by the Anfield side in the transfer market.

And Bayern’s new stance on where Wirtz could end up this summer is hugely encouraging for Liverpool, who could now be close to securing one of the biggest signings of the transfer window in the Bundesliga maestro.

Indeed, Wirtz would be a world-class addition for Liverpool’s ranks this off-season, and Bayern now fearing that the 22-year-old could end up at Anfield is an encouraging sign that the Reds are on the verge of something quite incredible.

Liverpool landing Florian Wirtz will be massive this summer

Liverpool have not had a marquee signing for quite some years, with the last world-class player many fans will agree that was brought in via the transfer market was Thiago Alcantara back in 2020 after winning the Premier League with Jurgen Klopp.

Yet landing Wirtz would end this five-year run of no world-class signings and then some, with the attacking midfielder yet to hit his peak at the highest level having established himself as a superstar with Leverkusen and Germany.

Although Liverpool might need to shell out a club-record fee to sign Wirtz, securing the 22-year-old’s signature could be worth it in the long run, especially if Slot can get the best out of the youngster in the years to come.
