Trent Alexander-Arnold is expected to leave Liverpool this summer, with Real Madrid calling for the out-of-contract England international.

The 26-year-old defender will depart his boyhood club at the end of this season having won everything there is to win for Liverpool, with Alexander-Arnold set to add a second Premier League title to his already legendary trophy haul with the Reds.

With Madrid in the driving seat to sign Alexander-Arnold, a replacement is needed at Liverpool for the academy graduate, a task that might be impossible given just how good the right-back is and the qualities the defender offers Arne Slot’s side.

Yet as we’ve seen at Liverpool in the last 12 months, replacing club legends can be possible, and the Reds might be about to drop their biggest hint yet on who could succeed Alexander-Arnold in the right-back position for next season.

Conor Bradley could be Liverpool’s new right-back after contract news

News has emerged this week that Liverpool have opened contract talks with Conor Bradley, with the Reds ready to extend the defender’s current deal ahead of Alexander-Arnold’s exit from Anfield later this year.

With Ally McCoist lauding Bradley as ‘magnificent’ after Liverpool’s recent League Cup semi-final win against Tottenham, the 21-year-old defender has shown he has the quality to step in for Alexander-Arnold and to offer something different in the right-back position.

Moreover, the Northern Ireland international produced one of the best individual displays of the season against Real Madrid, with Bradley leaving pundits applauding for his performance for Liverpool at Anfield last year.

Indeed, Bradley has flourished whenever given the chance at right-back for the Reds, and with Liverpool looking to sign as many as five players in the summer, promoting the youngster to replace Alexander-Arnold could end up being a wise decision on every front for the Anfield side.

Can Conor Bradley step up to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold next season?

Bradley has had some memorable moments this season for Liverpool, with the 21-year-old showing on multiple occasions that he has the quality to replace Alexander-Arnold and the potential to become something great.

Yet when it comes to stepping up and succeeding Alexander-Arnold, the England international’s stats for this season show that Bradley has some catching up to do, with the outbound right-back one of the most productive defenders in world football.

However, Bradley has shown on more than a handful of occasions that he is perfectly suited to Slot’s system at Liverpool, and becoming the new first-team right-back could be what pushes the youngster to reach the numbers that Alexander-Arnold has been hitting in recent years.
