Liverpool navigated through their change of manager superbly well during the summer.
The Reds knew they were facing a fairly impossible task in replacing legendary boss Jurgen Klopp.
However, Richard Hughes and co proved that impossible really is nothing by delivering the best man for the job in Arne Slot.
Slot has been a sensation during his first season at Liverpool and is likely to deliver a Premier League title at the first time of asking.
But not every club finds a succession plan so readily in the dugout. For Slot’s former club, Feyenoord, they have already sacked his replacement Brian Priske.
In Priske’s place has come club icon – and former Man United and Arsenal striker – Robin van Persie. And as Van Persie looks to steer the club back to the highs of the Slot era, he has given his honest verdict on the Liverpool head coach.
Robin van Persie ‘proud’ of Arne Slot
Having started and ended his career with Feyenoord, Van Persie is seen as a legend at De Kuip.
But although his status at the club will certainly buy him some time, hiring a 41-year-old with just a few months of senior managerial experience is certainly a gamble from the Rotterdam side.
Nevertheless, Van Persie was at the club as a youth coach throughout Slot’s time at the helm and likely learnt plenty from the 46-year-old.
And speaking to The Mirror, the former United striker has admitted to being ‘proud’ of what Slot is now achieving at Anfield.

“We should all be very proud that Arne has worked here at Feyenoord for three years,” said Van Persie. “He did a really great job, absolutely raised the level, and if you see how he is doing now at Liverpool that is really something we are proud of.
“I am happy to continue the work with his legacy,” he added. “I won’t suffer from it, on the contrary, I see it as a plus because a number of players who worked under Arne know the patterns I like to see.”
How are Feyenoord doing without Slot?
From the outside looking in, it feels like a slightly harsh decision from Feyenoord to sack Priske so early on into his reign.
The club had become used to challenging for trophies under Slot, but there was always likely to be a natural drop off once the boss left.
With 10 games to go they are 13 points behind Eredivisie leaders Ajax, meaning they are pretty certainly already out of the title race. Their goal should be Champions League qualification and they are only one point behind third-placed Utrecht in that respect.
Priske guided them to four wins out of eight in the Champions League this year. They have since beaten AC Milan under an interim manager to qualify for the last-16, where they’ll meet Inter.
In the cup they were beaten 2-0 away at PSV Eindhoven, which proved to be Priske’s penultimate game in charge.
