Mohamed Salah’s 2024/25 campaign is already going down in history.

The Egyptian superstar is in the form of his life at Anfield as the 30 goals and 22 assists he has produced across 39 games is currently firing Liverpool towards a treble.

Luis Garcia believes Salah is in contention to win the Ballon d’Or this season and that is becoming a realistic possibility for the 32-year-old.

Jamie Carragher thinks Salah will surpass Steven Gerrard as Liverpool’s greatest-ever player should he achieve this in 2025, however, the debate over the winger may go beyond the Merseyside club.

There is now a conversation to be had to discuss if the Egyptian superstar is the greatest player to ever play in the Premier League. A discussion that was recently had on talkSPORT.

Pundit thinks Mohamed Salah is already the Premier League’s best

Salah’s season could still reach ridiculous levels should he continue to perform at his current level as there are many high-profile games for the Egypt captain to still perform in.

This is even more impressive given Salah’s contract situation at Liverpool, which has been rumbling on in the background at Anfied throughout the 24/25 campaign.

Many feel that Thierry Henry is the greatest player to have ever played in the Premier League but this season is the first in a long time where that statement is up for debate.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Carlton Cole has been discussing this topic and the pundit has conceded that Salah is the greatest, with his 24/25 campaign helping him over the line.

“Listen when we talk about flair and all of that sort of stuff, he probably has not got the same flair as in the way he runs with the ball like Thierry Henry,” Cole said when comparing the duo.

“He was so graceful and the way some of these goals that he scored was beautiful. You got to look at that and you think, okay, Thierry Henry coupled up with his numbers as well, probably one of the greatest, if not the greatest.”

Later on in the debate, Cole brings up the point that Salah could have two Champions League medals by the end of the season, before conceding that the Egyptian is on his way to becoming the greatest player to ever play in the Premier League.

How does Salah compare to the Premier League greats?

When it comes to the debate of the greatest player to ever play in the Premier League, Salah and Henry are joined by Alan Shearer in many people’s eyes.

When comes to top-flight titles, Henry leads the way with two, which Salah is likely to join him on after the current season.

The former Arsenal star also leads the way when it comes to Golden Boots with four, with Salah and Shearer both on three but once again, the Liverpool winger may equal that this season.

Although these come into debate, for some, it may boil down simply to the numbers; which in all three cases, are impressive.

What may also favour the Liverpool star is the records he is attaching to his name. Salah needs to score against just one more team to break one incredible Premier League record, while he’ll also have the most goals in a single season in his sights.

All three are phenomenal players and have all had careers they can be proud of, however, when it comes to this debate, Salah is making it harder with every season that passes.
